House District 1 April 27th Newsletter

Only one week left and everything is coming down to the wire!

We have been so busy here at the Capitol. Committees are staying until 4 am to hear every constituent's testimony on the bills they care about. Today we are working on a Saturday to make sure important policy gets heard in each chamber including HB19-1312 School Immunization Requirements

Last week, my bill HB19-1038
Dental Services For Pregnant Women On Children's Basic Health Plan Plus was signed into law by Governor Polis this week, which will provide dental services for about 900 pregnant CO women on CHP+ each year. This was the last group of people in Medicaid or CHP+ without dental benefits. And HB19-1194, School Discipline For Preschool Through Second Gradepassed the Senate on third reading on the 17th and is expected to be signed into law soon!

Yesterday, the Equal Pay For Equal Work Act passed the house on second reading, this is important legislation brought forth by Senators Danielson and Pettersen, and Representatives Buckner and Gonzalez-Gutierrez.

Next week, my bill (HB19-1032) The Youth Wellness Act, has been fully funded by the Senate appropriations committee and will go to a floor vote in the Senate! Also being heard in the Senate next week is my bill HB19-1278,
Modifications To Uniform Election Code will make voting more cost-effective, efficient, and accessible.

We have one week left of session and it will be a sprint to the finish line!

HD-1 Day

This week I had several constituents come to the capitol for a light breakfast, a chance to sit on the House floor, ask me questions about issues important to them, and take a tour of the capitol. Thank you to everyone that came out and made HD-1 Day a success!
