House District 1 February Newsletter
February was a busy month for everyone here at the Capitol. The House and committee members worked into the night on numerous occasions to work out controversial bills and to hear every testimony.
On February 20th, I introduced a bill that would limit school suspensions and expulsions for preschoolers through 2nd grade. It is essential during early childhood development that we do not remove them from school for relatively minor infractions.
On the 21st, students Hana and Shawn, 8th graders from the Colorado Association of Gifted and Talented, shadowed me for the day. They learned the ins and outs of state government and what a day in the life of a State Representative looks like.
The Youth Wellness Act passed the House and will be heard in Senate committee this week. To read about the bill from the Sentinel click here
