Construction activities are continuing along the City to Gungahlin light rail corridor. Here is the latest with what is happening on the project.
Gungahlin to Mitchell
(Zones 1,2 &3)
A big change is coming to Gungahlin town centre. The Canberra Metro team has made significant progress in construction along Flemington Road between Manning Clarke Crescent and Kate Crace Street and are about to begin works in Hibberson Street. As a result, Hibberson Street between Kate Crace Street and Gungahlin Place will be closing permanently to vehicular traffic from Monday 10 April 2017 to become a
pedestrian and light rail priority street. Construction of a new bus interchange by Transport Canberra and City Services for Gungahlin town centre will also begin this year, providing a direct link between
bus and light rail services for the convenient transfer of passengers. Construction in Gungahlin town centre will be completed in three stages and is anticipated to be finished in December 2017.
This week, Canberra Metro crews will continue on Kate Crace Street in preparation for these works, which will include night works at the intersection of Flemington Road and scheduled for the next two weeks.

This work involves installing communications services such as the NBN, Optus and Telstra lines alongside the light rail alignment. Out of hours works for the week will include Well Station Drive to Sandford Street Intersections.
Implementation of contra flow commenced last week for southbound traffic between Well Station Drive and the Federal Highway to allow for road widening and other works to proceed.

Ipima and Condamine Streets intersection
Elouera and Gould Streets intersection
It is important for all Canberrans based along the corridor to note that out of hours work will generally be undertaken where required between 8 pm to 6 am from Sundays to Thursdays. Out of hours work may change depending on weather conditions and the nature of construction.
