Reading Room Update

Dear Neighbor,

Slowly but surely our library is approaching the completion of Phase 1 of its Building and Renovation project - our new reading room! The furniture is in place and we are delighted to say that it looks even better than it did in the pictures in the catalogues. The large windows flood the room with natural light and there are outlets galore! We look forward to opening it for patron use after the final few tasks are completed.

This project could not have been achieved without the generosity of many contributors. Our heart-felt thanks goes to all those who contributed to our reading room, which is your reading room!

The Town of Ulster Public Library will expand its program offerings for teens/tweens! Teen program activities will include Tech, Maker Lab and Art/Craft projects. The first program will take place on Thursday, February 20th at 5:30 PM. Please see flyer below for details.

*Parents and guardians must either be present at the start of the program or sign in with contact information.*
Bags purchased in February from our local Hannaford located at 1261 Ulster Avenue, Kingston, NY will generate a $1 donation for the library. Help the environment by investing in reusable bags and support your library at the same time: a win-win!
Do you like working on puzzles? We would like to start a puzzle club at the library for ages 13 and up. If interested, please contact Kerry at or call the library at 845-338-7881 and leave your information with a staff member.
Looking for something fun to do indoors? We have your FREE passes to check out for the Albany Institute of History & Art!  Pick up a pass with your library card and take a look at Joan Steiner's Look-Alikes Exhibit of miniature dioramas. One pass admits 2 adults and 2 children. Exhibit runs through Sunday, February 23rd.

"Ten miniature dioramas by the award-willing illustrator Joan Steiner are once again on exhibit in different locations throughout the museum. These meticulously crafted scenes were created from everyday objects and edible treats, and photographed for Steiner’s Look-Alikes® books. Joan Steiner’s first book, Look-Alikes®, published in 1998, was named one of Time Magazine’s best children’s books and one of The New York Times Book Review’s Notable Children’s Books that year. The series continued with three additional books: Look-Alikes® Jr., Look-Alikes® Christmas, and Look-Alikes® Around the World. These four books have been translated into sixteen languages and have sold over a million copies worldwide.

Steiner created her three-dimensional dioramas in her Hudson, New York studio, not far from her home in Claverack."
