Check out this week's harvest, great recipe ideas, and a few updates from 4P Foods.

4P Foods Weekly Harvest

What to expect in your bag...

For those of you who have not yet met, Farmer Pete (seen above) is 4P Foods traveling mascot. You've likely seen Pete pop up from time to time on our Instagram, modeling next to our wares. Interested in acquiring your very own Farmer Pete? Tag us @4PFoods in a photo of your cooking creations, and we'll add a Farmer Pete to your next delivery.

This week's produce share includes a blackberry salad dressing from Dress it up Dressing. They produce delicious salad dressing both responsibly and sustainably. That means sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible, seeking out small micro-producers, minimizing travel times, shortening the food chain, and practicing corporate responsibility. The dressing comes in a jar, and since they don’t add water, the dressing has all the flavor you need in just one spoonful.

We're incredibly excited for the goat butter in this week's dairy share. Goat butter has been featured on the Kitchn, Chow Hound, and NYT Dining & Wine. It's a particularly good substituate in savory dishes, lending a creamy, gentle, and lighter than butter quality to dishes. Feel free to spread it on toast, liven up a gratin, or sauté collard greens.

Special thanks to all those that attended the SoCap 365 Inclusive Food Systems event on Wednesday. We were humbled to participate in a panel on how to create an equitable food system for nutritious, sustainable, local foods. Tom discussed the role a DC food port could play in supporting farmers and residents through physical and technical infrastructure. Interested in helping develop a food port to serve the DC-region? Reach out to Tom directly at

Still confused about how our awesome new swap system works? Annabel put together this handy dandy guide on how to use the system and create the bag of your dreams. Check it out here!

We know you're busy enjoying a delightfully long weekend, but if you plan to swap items or skip a share this week please be sure to update your profile before the deadline. Skips and swaps should be submitted by 11:59 PM on: Sunday for Wednesday deliveries, Monday for Thursday deliveries, and Tuesday for Friday deliveries. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thanks for all your support.
-Tom & the 4P Foods Team

A Note from 4P Foods:

Don't forget!!  Cutoff times to skip a bag: Sunday at midnight for Wednesday deliveries, Monday at midnight for Thursday deliveries, and Tuesday at midnight for Friday deliveries.  If you have scheduled upcoming skips and change your membership at all, you will need to reschedule those since it is a new subscription that gets created.  Email or call if you need help.

If you have a produce share AND a protein/dairy share and need to skip a given week, be sure to skip ALL of them when logged into your account page.  Otherwise, the system is designed so you can skip one or the other in a given week.
If you ever get a bruised apple or "sad" greens or anything along those lines - TELL US! It happens in the world of produce, and we need that kind of feedback to tell our farmers if something is wrong, and get you a discount/credit if needed.  That's what we're here for!
Wanting to learn a little more about the best ways to prepare your Grassfed meat each week? Jesse from Wiffletree Farm suggests these two cookbooks for those learning their way around: The Grassfed Gourmet and Long Way on a Little: An Earth Lover's Companion for Enjoying Meat, Pinching Pennies and Living Deliciously.
