It's been 5 years today, since we were thrust into this journey that we are now on. Well, it was on Tuesday. My wife and I have texted each other on this day every year to remind ourselves of the crazy adventure we were put on by God. That day was the best and worst thing to happen to us. As most of you know, I was a pastor at a job I loved and I was let go. Something like that tends to make or break you. It took a good 3 years to recover from that experience, but out of it birthed LeaderBuild (our ministry to help church leaders become smart and healthy) and StrategyPlus Solutions (our business that feeds us)
So you know, I had a lot more details about our experience from the last 5 years but I decided to make it into an article for our website... Look for it soon!
Five Years Later, How Is It Going?
Great! No, really. Things are starting to click for us. We have currently 26 "clients" with LeaderBuild and StrategyPlus. We have helped 12 churches with everything from advice about their website to consulting about getting their ministry story into their community. We have helped some of those churches to get healthy through our Training Tracks, and we helped plant / start a couple ministries and churches. Over the past 3 years, we have helped 3 pastors transition out of ministry and 5 peopletransitioninto ministry. We have helped over 45 pastors / leaders in over 10 states and 3 countries become smarter and healthier in ministry. Since we started, we have grown 30% every year and have seen 24 core staff who have volunteered at least one year of their time. It is really exciting to see all those people take ownership of our vision that smart and healthy leadership works on all levels.
But we want to do more. And we are! This summer, we are planning on going back to Ireland for 6 weeks to help our church plant with whatever they need, and to encourage local pastors / missionaries to be smart and healthy through training and mentoring. SHORTLY, we are going to be launching a Resources area on our website and recruiting more leaders to write articles, share ministry ideas, and provide resources.
Well, we hope this helps you get an idea of what has been going on the past 5 years. Look for our article about the details on what happened in those first 3 years that got us here!
Thank you, Ben Harrington

A Note from the Editor
As leaders, we tend to have a lot of work on our plates. Most of us are Type A (not all, but many), and some may be accused of being workaholics. It is easy to get so focused on that article you want to write, and yes absolutely I'll volunteer next Sunday, hang on I need to call someone to set up a meeting, what do you mean the printer is broken, and... sound familiar? Work becomes a huge part of life.
While a strong, Biblical work ethic is important to have, we were not only created to work, but to be in community. However work-focused or introverted you may be, "it is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18). It can be easy to get lost in the madness of the moment and feel like work is all there is, but it is even more important to make time for people. I would challenge each and every one of you to, this week, take time for the people around you. Prepare a family dinner, have a nice date, meet a friend for coffee, take your kids (or a friend's kids) to the park, and focus on those important people in your life. Leave your phone in your pocket or bag, don't check email (not even once), and talk about at least three things other than work. I promise you, it is not wasted time.
Work may be important, but people matter more. Make some time for the important people in your life, and you will feel more relaxed, get more done when you do work, and build relationships that will last far longer than your job.

Don't Forget to Pray For Us!
Please help us by praying for our needs:
Missions trip is in full planning mode. Next summer, our family is going to Ireland to do leadership training and help our church plant and encourage local pastors and missionaries. Please pray that we are able to raise another $2,500 for this trip.
Our schedules are getting crazy. With the kids in full swing of school, Ben working full time with LeaderBuild and StrategyPlus, Aimee working full time and extra-circular activities; life has been a bit busy. Please pray we can stay focused during this busy session.
Ben's Dad in nursing home. As most of you know, we moved our family back to the Quad Cities to be closer to Ben's parents as they transition to the retirement village. This past week, we had to move Ben's dad to the nursing home. Pray for his mom, his dad, and Ben as they walk through this new journey together.
Have you wondered how you can get involved with LeaderBuild?
