Orchard Crossing #2

Tuesday 22nd March 2016 - 4270 at the GWSR

Heavy freight in the Cotswolds in the Spring

We are pleased to announce a date with Great Western Railway 42XX 4270 at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway. We will use the railways goods rake that has featured on our earlier charters . 4270 currently carries the later Great Western livery with GWR on the tank sides. Built at Swindon in 1919, her working career was in South Wales being allocated to Newport (Ebbw Junction) , Aberbeeg and Cardiff Canton. Sold to Woodhams at Barry she became the 167th engine to leave going initially to the Swansea Vale Railway and then to Toddington where she returned to steam in 2014. We are very grateful to the owners and GWSR for our day with her

Start is anticipated to be Winchcombe around 9am . The loco currently faces south and depending on the weather we'll head to Toddinton or Cheltenham . The loop at Laverton is no longer available however we expect to be able to still do Stanway Viaduct should the weather be favourable

Cost of the day is £65 with numbers limited to 30 to ensure a comfortable days photography . If you would like to join us please do get in touch to reserve your place. Previous GWSR events have sold out quickly
