30742 Charters - 7820 on the Severn Valley Railway

7820 - Dinmore Manor at Llangollen

Thursday 14th April 2016

With a very big thank you to Dinmore Manor Locomotive Limited, Llangollen Railway and Richard Newton of 3P20 Parcels group who has worked tirelessly to set this up we are really pleased to present a day with 7820 still in unlined BR Black livery on the three carmine liveried suburban carriages at the Llangollen Railway. There are some very nice images of Manors hauling such stock ironically on the North Warwickshire and Solihull lines as well as closer to Wales with such combinations forming the Whitchurch (Shropshire) to Welshpool trains

This will be our third event with 7820 following our days at the GWSR and SVR and suffice it to say it has become a firm favourite of ours. The day will also be the culmination of 4 days of unlined black BR(W) motive power with 3P20 parcels group arranging dates with 4566, 7822 and 7820

We will kick off at Berwyn around 8:00am and all being well tea , coffee and toast will be available and a short safety briefing will be held. Lunch will be at Llangollen and depending on the weather conditions we will keep going until around 7pm and the sunset at Carrog

Cost for the day is £65 and this includes access to all lineside fields which Richard is kindly arranging for us . We look forward to welcoming you to Wales in April

Outline Programme

Due to current noise restrictions locos cannot leave the shed until 08.00, therefore the stock will be positioned for the most effective getaway.  We will meet at Berwyn for 08.00 so that everyone in position for a prompt pick up. It is hoped that the station cafe will be open for toast and hot drinks.

The morning session will commence on the north of 1000 yd straight followed by Glyn outer home and set back for Gart-y-Dwr fixed distant. We will then proceed to Carrog to run round and return to Llangollen for a crew change and a leisurely lunch break, whilst the sun (hopefully) moves into position for the optimum angle on A5 Straight (Concrete Path etc).

The second run out to the A5 Straight will be at about 13.30 and when we have concluded on the straight, return to Llangollen to access the south side of 1000 yd late afternoon when conditions should be at their optimum. We will conclude at around 19.00 with the golden glint at Carrog
