Dear Library Community,
We know you have been waiting for new library materials, and to bring back any items you’ve bonded with since the library closed! The time has come, and we can’t wait to see you again—safely.
We are excited to announce that we will be back to offering access to our amazing collection of books, DVDs, and CDs in the coming week. We also understand that people throughout our community have different kinds of safety concerns. With this in mind, we have been working on a process for you to order, pickup, and drop off items without contact. Currently, we will be rolling out the changes at our Florence location, and make sure we have a great process before we expand to our Mapleton branch.
Starting Tuesday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. we accepted returns on the Maple Street/west side of the building. These items are being collected in bins so they can be quarantined for 72 hours prior to handling. Our next return period will come on Friday, May 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beginning Monday, June 1, we will be offering item return every weekday, Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hungry for new items? Beginning Monday, June 1, please call us between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. We will be reserving items (up to three per card) that can be picked up the next business day. Pickup will be totally no-contact—your items will already be checked out to you and waiting for you to claim from the east/front parking lot.
If you haven’t yet discovered the many online services we offer—from checking out ebooks and downloadable audiobooks, to accessing entire issues of your favorite magazines, to live storytimes on Facebook and a weekly virtual book group, to a brand new crafting and art online classroom—this is the perfect time to discover all the fun. Most of all, thank you for your patience and grace. All of us at the Siuslaw Public Library District appreciate the many messages of support we have received, and the chance we have had to serve you remotely. I can’t tell you how excited we are to see you again…from a distance.
