Dear Library Community,

We're continuing to expand our services for you. In July, we started computer use by appointment. You can sign up for an hour to print, check your email, use Word or Excel, or whatever else you need to do online.

On August 7, Kevin Mittge will present his annual endowment books program on Zoom. Tune in to see some of the more than 200 adult books we've purchased with endowment funds over the past year. There are some really cool and unusual books, which will all be available for curbside pickup request after the program.

Speaking of which, have you tried curbside hold pickup yet? You can request up to three items by phone or using our online form (see below). For upriver patrons, we've just added a weekly pickup at our Mapleton branch. Call us to arrange to pick your materials up on Thursday afternoons in Mapleton.

If you aren't sure where to start searching our catalog for items to request, check out this new video. You'll learn about basic keywords, power searches, and browsing for new items. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel while you're there!

As always, check out our website for COVID-19 news and resources.

Take care of yourselves, and we can't wait to see you again soon!

Since moving to Florence full-time eight years ago, she has been an active volunteer and board member with Seacoast Entertainment Association and Western Lane Community Foundation. She's also an avid reader and library user. Welcome, Sandy!

Book Brunch
Thursday, Aug 13, 10:30 AM
Our virtual book club is changing to a monthly meeting. Join us on the second Thursday of each month at 10:30 AM. On August 13, we'll be sharing what we've been reading. And on September 10, we'll be discussing Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World. We have some book club copies available to borrow before the meeting.

Contact ref@siuslawlibrary.org or call 541-997-3132 to request a copy of Dewey and to get the required Zoom meeting passcode.

See you there!
Siuslaw Reading Challenge
We are modifying this year's challenge. You only have to get 10 punches on your entry card for the year (not all 12), and you can decide which months to skip. See the full details and list of themes on our website: https://www.siuslawlibrary.info/reading-challenge.

August's theme is essay collections. Here are a few suggestions from our collection, which you can request for curbside pickup or through our digital collection (if available):
