Dear Friends,

It’s been awhile since I last posted an update, however, I have got a few things here that may interest you this week.

First, a couple dear friends have recently gone to be with the Lord. Perhaps many of you have already heard, but if not, Ray Yungen went to be with the Lord on October 16. More recently, Caryl Matrisciana went to be with the Lord on December 2.

Both Ray and Caryl will be exceedingly missed. Their life work serving the Lord - both of them as outstanding researchers, writers and evangelists - have been a blessing to a very large number of people all around the world. I must say that both of their graduations from this life into heaven, along with several other researcher/writer friends these past couple years, have been difficult for me to emotionally process. These two precious souls were both extremely kind people and they were highly respected people. They were also people who could be sincerely trusted as friends, and, their research was always reliable.

We know Ray and Caryl are with the Lord and we praise God for His goodness and faithfulness in blessing us with such special individuals. They loved the Lord, they daily sought His will, they honored His Word, they consistently spoke His truth in love, and they both endured much for the sake of Christ and His Gospel. They are with Jesus now and their priceless Christian testimonies are treasures to all of us who knew them, both personally, and as co-laborers in the Lord's work. They will be dearly missed, and sadly I will not be able to do the ministry projects that Ray and I had hoped to accomplish together, when we could muster up some finances to pull it off.

Also of note, after I returned from speaking in the U.K. in August/September, I immediately embarked on a new venture working 50-60 hours a week at a new job that is unrelated to our ministry. I had a few weeks where I worked close to 80 plus hours a week to get done what had to get done. It has not been easy but hopefully my new business will one day provide what is needed to carry us further along. Things are well underway but during this transition we have faced financial pressures like never before. We are praying for God’s direction and for His perfect timing, and continued support for our ministry.

I do want to encourage you to read an exceptionally important article that Sandy Simpson from Apologetics Coordination Team recently wrote. The article is titled, The Future of Discernment and Apologetics Ministries (12/3/16). Sandy has done an excellent job explaining what is before us as Christian research ministries, and the difficulty of living in the world and amongst post-modern evangelicalism where it seems most of the church has embraced heresy and every false teacher under the sun. This article will help you understand the serious need of Christian apologetics and discernment ministries in our day.

I have updated numerous pages on our SRN website and spent several days updating, fixing and/or deleting obsolete links within our websites. We have added some inventory to our online Bookstore and also made some adjustments to our Donation pages, including updating our Gifts In Kind plug-in. Donors are able now to make donations In Honor & Memorial To Those Who Have Made A Difference.

Our What’s New page is updated, our Audio/Video page has new additions, and I have made extensive additions to our Calvary Chapel Alert page. You will want to peruse this page if you are concerned about the continuing issues coming to light within Calvary Chapel movement. We also have a special page we are making as a tribute to Ray Yungen that I will let you know about in the future.

On a different note, there is much more work to be done. Life is short and we are but a vapor on this earth. As the saying today and gone tomorrow. Even as I have been preparing this letter, my wife telephoned me earlier and informed me that one of our dear relatives just passed away - today! Please pray for my wife and her extended family, for God’s comfort at this time. Your prayers are sincerely appreciated!

We trust the Lord in all things and we continue to do what we can to tell His truth and His Gospel to this dying world. By God’s grace and goodness we press on and look up to Him - Jesus Christ the Savior of the world. He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance and put their wholehearted faith and trust in Him - in His person and redemptive work and resurrection, by which we are saved from our sins and death and hell. Indeed, God's free gift of salvation comes by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.

Thank you to all who have been able to help support our ministry and pray for us. We sincerely appreciate your assistance and we always do need prayer for the work before us. May God grant you every blessing in Christ Jesus and uphold you each day as you seek Him in Spirit and in His Truth.
