Thank You Veteran's!
Thank you Veteran's for our Freedom!
If you are currently serving in the US Military, or are a Veteran, we Thank You for your labor of love and commitment and we celebrate our FREEDOM with you, here in the USA.
My grandfather served in the Asia-Pacific War in WWII
and provided supplies to the troops with the Merchant Marines. He was one of the nicest people I have ever known in my entire life, and many of his friends in the early Southern California surf sub-culture went on to be some of the most well-recocgnized California surfers in the world.
My wife's grandfather served in the European theatre of WW II (Five days after D-Day - Omaha Beach, Normandy, France)
and marched across France - on foot,
fighting-every-day for approximately 50 days straight.
Amidst all of the mental traumatic onslaught, he was also severely injured after two entire rounds of his platoon were killed (all his friends x 2). He was heavily engaged in warfare at the battle of Mortain, and he survived in a foxhole as he read his Bible, before his comrades took him to safety. Pictured here is "Puppa's field Bible from WWII."
My wife's father has extensively researched the battle of Mortain and the surrounding circumstances. He is somewhat of historian on the subject. This is what he has lovingly shared with us about his Dad (Puppa) and this little field Bible:
Christ has purchased our Freedom with His own blood!
- Dear Daughter ______, Enclosed is your Puppa's field Bible from WWII. I entrust it with you for his remembrance. He clasped this in his hands as they rested on his rifle, facing his certain end so many times. He never knew how or why he survived, so many times, losing every piece of his existence. He said this little book was all he had sometimes. Except for his weapons it was his life and it gave him some inner feeling to accept what fate offered and trust that he would abide. He like you, [is] a warrior for goodness. Be strong for your faith and your family. - Love Dad
Our Lord Jesus Christ also purchased freedom, but in a spiritual and much greater - heavenly way! He died and rose again in order to pay the penalty of God's just wrath against our sin. Jesus gave His own life
as a ransom, as a Substitute in our place. As a propitiatory sacrifice on our behalf, He endured what we could never endure, in order to set us free from the yoke of bondage to the power and slavery of sin. Paul the Apostle warned about the danger of trying to be made righteous before God, in our own strength. He lovingly warned Christian believers in the province of Galatia against false teachers who would seek to persuade them to try to add to the work of Christ. Paul exhorted:
- "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage [slavery to legalism/sin]. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing" (Galatians 5:1-2).
If you have not read this for some time, here is a good reminder of just exactly what our Lord has done FOR US:
Rejoicing in the Lord!

- “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement” (Romans 5:6-11)
