World Youth Day Panama
We Need Your Input

The Archdiocese of New York is excited to participate in World Youth Day in 2019! This WYD the Cardinal is requiring all those who are participating to register through the Archdiocese. Because of the unusual scheduling of the 2019 WYD, the Archdiocese will be offering two options for participation: a full seven-night WYD experience and an intensive four-night WYD experience. To aid in making reservations and scheduling, could you take the following brief survey? This survey will NOT register you officially for WYD participation but will help the archdiocese in its planning.

Take Survey
Pope Francis wants to hear
from young people!

To prepare for the upcoming international Synod on "Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment," the Holy Father wants online feedback  (change the language on the right hand corner of the screen) from all youth and young adults, ages 16 to 29, from around the world, regardless of how active they are in the practice of the faith. Please help Pope Francis Hear their voice by sharing the link with your young people.  The online survey is open until November 30, 2017.  The results of the online survey will be part of the international listening process that will help Pope Francis and the world's bishops better understand the realities, hopes, and concerns of youth and young adults in preparation for the 2018 Synod.

Are you interested in using LifeTeen (9-12 grade) or Edge (6-8 grade) for your parish youth ministry program? LifeTeen has provided a special opportunity for parishes in the Archdiocese that would include free and discounted training and resources. This opportunity is for parishes not currently using LifeTeen in their communities. Please contact Cynthia Psencik for more details.

Did you know that today is the 25th Anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC)? In honor of the silver anniversary of this great resource for so many of us, we have asked one of our youth ministers to contribute to this week's reflection and reading. Brandon Morel, an Idente Missionary writes about "Creating Catechetical Moments in Youth Ministry." Here is a teaser:

It was a Sunday morning, and my wife had gotten up to make a big breakfast. On our table we had, eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit and the only thing for me to wait on was for the coffee pot to finish. It was at this time that my 8-year old son Christian randomly begins to ask questions about death...  Read the full reflection.

You can also read practical ways to navigate the CCC
Watch: Check out and share with your teens one of these videos on VCat (Video Catechism)
Pray: A Catechist's Prayer
Live: Just like Brandon mentioned in his reflection, choose two teens and their families whom you will create a "catechetical moment" with in the next week.
