Library Hours: Monday - Thursday 10 am - 7 pm
Friday & Saturday 10 am - 4 pm

The Library is CLOSED Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25, for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

If you can't make it to the library to check out something to read for the holiday, download an eBook through our Axis360 Collection or DELCO Libraries .

Every year, on Giving Tuesday, we mobilize millions of people across the globe to show up, give back, and change their communities.
The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet.

It’s Giving Tuesday on November 29
During this season of giving, we are grateful for the support of our community, and we are determined to go the extra mile to extend our hours.
Help us increase our hours, consider donating TODAY, or as a worldwide effort on TUESDAY!

The Media-Upper Providence Free Library reaches across the globe to give fun reading to school students in Kenya. Not everything sells at the Book Sale, and we not only provide materials to teachers in local underserved communities, but have partnered with teachers providing materials to students worldwide.
All the students below are reading materials from
the Media-Upper Providence Free Library Book Sale:

Even when we can't find a good home for the books we can't sell, we partner with an online bookseller that will recycle any materials not sold.

All are invited to join the Evening Book Club's special guest, local author Tom Garvey:

Monday, December 5, 2022 at 6:00 PM.

If you were single, never married with no children or dependents, would you, if you had the opportunity, have lived “on the down low” in a secret apartment in Veterans Stadium? In this memoir we have an off the wall South Philly version of “The Phantom of the Opera". If you had an opportunity to live in a major sports stadium of a team you grew up loving, what would you have done?

Check out these articles about Tom Garvey's remarkable life and the stories he shares in The Secret Apartment:

Non-members of the Media-UP Evening Book Club can check out available copies in the DELCO Library System, purchase on Amazon here, or Tom Garvey will bring a limited amount of copies to the Book Discussion and willing to sign all copies afterwards.

December Friday Film Club

We explore Wishes this Holiday Season!

Films are shown Friday Afternoon at 1 PM in our upstairs theater for adults 18 & up.
Hot Tea & Popcorn served and discussion after all movies.

DECEMBER 2 @ 1 PM: JERRY & MARGE GO LARGE
Did you get caught up recently in LOTTERY FEVER?

JERRY & MARGE GO LARGE is inspired by the remarkable true story of retiree Jerry Selbee, who discovers a mathematical loophole in the Massachusetts lottery and, with the help of his wife, Marge, wins millions and uses the money to revive their small Michigan town.

DECEMBER 9 @ 1 PM:

Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic -- content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.

DECEMBER 16 @ 1 PM: SEE YOU NEXT CHRISTMAS

Annie and Tom Clark throw a holiday party every year, "Clarkmas." Over the years, it's become the go-to holiday event for their ragtag group of friends. When chronically single Natalie and Logan continue to run into each other at the party year after year, they begin to wonder if maybe they're meant to be together...

No movie on Friday, December 23 & 30.

Friday Film Club resumes on January 6th in 2023.

The library is accepting donations for the SPRING 2023 BOOK SALE.

Please look for the specially marked green bin to the left of the main entrance on Jackson Street. We accept good condition books (hardcover, trade and standard paperback), CDs, DVDs, records, games and puzzles.  Sorry, but we can’t accept cassettes, encyclopedias or National Geographic magazines.

If the bin is full, please let the staff inside the library know.
