Special edition e-news from Friends of Killarney Park
The Friends are committed to protecting the Park’s ecosystem and preserving the full diversity of habitats and their species. By taking the following steps, you can help us protect the beautiful wilderness of the Park so it can be enjoyed by all visitors.
Leave no trace of your visit.
Take only pictures, leave only footprints, and bring home only memories. Do not cut, remove or harm plants or trees. Graffiti and Inukshuks are not permitted anywhere in the Park. Visit our website for more information.
Do not litter or leave behind any signs of human interference. Tie your gear carefully to your car. Do not turn the Park into your private washroom and leave telling evidence behind (e.g. discarded toilet paper and tissues). Visit our website for more information.
Together, let's keep the Park wild for the benefit of future generations!
Be a Friend!
Adopt a trail.
Before setting out for a hike, stop at the Park office. We give you a bag; you collect any garbage you find along your way. Come back to the office after your hike to receive a badge.
Use designated fire pits.
Using these fire pits, rather than creating unauthorized ones, helps deter others from copying this dangerous practice.
Take note of violations.
If you see damage to the natural environment along your hike (e.g. litter, graffiti, inukshuks, unauthorized fire pits) stop by and tell us about it at the Park office when you get back.
