JUNIOR / YOUNG RIDER SPOTLIGHT

MAYA GILMORE is from Erieville, N.Y. and rides at Spruce Valley Stables in Erieville. She has been riding for 4-1/2 years and her main discipline is Dressage. Maya has been working with and showing two horses this past year. Brumbleberry Wine (Brumby) is a 6-year-old 11.2 hand Welsh Cross pony who has only been under saddle for about a year. All The Best (Tuffy) is a 17-Year-old 14.2 hand Oldenburg/Welsh pony who just started learning Dressage.
Maya's goals are to continue to grow as a rider and to keep helping Brumby learn to be the best pony he can be and to ride Tuffy at Training Level. Brumby's favorite treats are Maya’s homemade molasses treats and her favorite thing about him is how loving he is toward everyone. Tuffy loves carrots and Maya’s favorite thing about him is his wonderful attitude and cuteness. Outside of the barn you will find Maya playing soccer and helping her family with their business, The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseeds.

If you see Maya with Brumby or Tuffy at a show make sure to say HI!

Each month, we will feature a Rising Star Program participant in our newsletter.

A Look at CNYD&CTA's Busy Summer So Far!
Hunter Derby Clinic at Abbey Meadow Farm
Led by Barb Lindberg

CNYD&CTA sponsored a Hunter Derby Clinic with Barb Lindberg on July 28. CNYD&CTA member Amy Bittner and her family hosted the event at their Abbey Meadow Farm in Syracuse. There was much to be learned by both riding and auditing this clinic. Mid-day, Amy and the volunteers hosted a lunch in her home for everyone and this included a talk by Barb Lindberg, complete with handouts on what to expect when attending the ever-increasingly popular hunter derby. A great time was had by all that attended, and special thanks to the volunteers, including Brianna Adams, Ann Blanton, Diane Camarada, Prin Furst, Nancy Raynor, Robin Wolff and Candace Yackel.
