TIM PALLAS MP
E-NEWS BULLETIN
Dear Residents,
The Andrews Government has continued to make important progress on key areas of our election commitments.
My focus has been on negotiating the Port of Melbourne lease legislation, which is currently in front of the Legislative Council.
The lease of the Port of Melbourne is a crucial part of the Andrews Government's plan for modernising our port and investing in infrastructure. It was recently announced that there will be a $200m fund for regional development flowing from the sale of the port.
I encourage you to forward this email to fellow community members in Wyndham so that they can subscribe and follow up local issues with my office at the details provided above.

LOCAL GRANT APPLICATIONS
Each of these E-News updates will be including a section on applicable grants for local sporting and community groups within Wyndham. It is vital that community groups within Wyndham are aware of the range and scale of the grants funding available and are actively applying for these grants in accordance with the guidelines.
The electorate office is more than happy to help groups that may need assistance locating appropriate grants for their organisation. I urge community leaders to be proactive in finding and applying for grants that may assist residents in Wyndham.

BREASTSCREEN AUSTRALIA AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
I will be writing to residents within Wyndham to inform them about the importance of Breast Screen Victoria. This is a service which offers free breast cancer checkups for women aged between 50 and 74.
Werribee currently only has 50% of eligible women utilising the BreastScreen service and I encourage women to take care of their health and make sure that they take advantage of this service. It is recommended that women have a breast screen once every two years and it is important that women locally are aware of the risks.
Please read more about this important service at https://www.breastscreen.org.au/Home
The local BreastScreen Victoria clinic is located at 27 Princes Hwy, Werribee and can be contacted at the main BreastScreen number at 13 20 50
HOMESAFE POLICY FOR WERRIBEE
From 1 January 2016, the Andrews Labor Government will trial all-night public transport on weekends – delivering a key election commitment.
During the trial, metro trains will depart from Flinders Street Station every 60 minutes on the Werribee line for 24 hours on weekends.
A revamped and improved night bus network will include 20 routes, with a mix of routes operating from the city and others providing suburban connections from train stations and from suburban night-time hubs including Dandenong and Frankston.
To support Homesafe, the Government has given Victoria Police funding for 171 extra transport security officers – 109 Protective Services Officers and 62 transit police.
