Date: 21 April 2015
Venue: Phoenix Hotel, 40 Wallace Rd, Point Cook.
A public forum has been organised for the western suburbs in response to the findings within the ambulance response report and the Hon. Jill Hennessy, Minister for Health and Ambulance Services will be in attendance.
The next step of the report is to allow submissions to be made to the report by including input from public forums held around the state.
Key findings from the report include that:
·Ambulance response time performance has fallen dramatically over recent years
·Dispatching an ambulance to a Code 1 incident in the metropolitan region takes, on average, one minute longer compared to six years ago
·Public demand for emergency ambulance services has increased 5 per cent over the past six years
·In recent years, almost 60 per cent of all emergency incidents were classified as Code 1 but on arrival, paramedics found that a Code 1 response was not required
·Paramedics are experiencing excessive fatigue, low morale and unacceptable injury and violence, with around 45 per cent of the workforce last year saying they would not recommend the service as a good place to work
Please contact the electorate office of Jill Hennessy to RSVP for further information.

TRAGIC INCIDENT IN WYNDHAM
I want to express my deepest sympathies to the family in Wyndham Vale following the tragic deaths of Bol, Anger and Madit. Our best wishes are with Awel who is still recovering at this time. We all hope for a full recovery and our thoughts are with the extended family at this devastating time. This has been an absolutely terrible incident and has left the community reeling.
There is a community event in tribute to the children that will be held on the 19th of April from 3pm to 7pm.
The event will be held at the Manor Lakes Sporting Club which is located at the corner of Manor Lakes Boulevard and Howqua Way.
I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of the local CFA, police and paramedics in dealing with this horrendous incident and thank them for their professionalism.
POLICE STAFFING CHANGES
I was very pleased to see the decision this week by Victoria Police to allocate an additional 10 officers towards the Wyndham area. The Wyndham area has been in need of better police resources for some time and it is fantastic to see Victoria Police stepping forward on that front. See attached news article below.
