TIM PALLAS MP
E-NEWS BULLETIN

Dear Residents,

The Andrews Government has continued to make important progress on key areas of our election commitments.

We have progressed our plans for the lease of Melbourne Port, which will allow us to fund the crucially important level crossing removals.

We have also fought back against Federal Government plans to arbitrarily increase the rate of the GST. This is because the GST has no regard for people's capacity to pay. It is not a fair tax.

We have progressed in discussions and analysis around the Western Distributor project, which could provide a massive boost for jobs in the west as well as reducing congestion over the West Gate.

It has also been a pleasure to turn the sod on the upgrade of the Sneydes Rd widening and diamond interchange project. This project will greatly enhance traffic flow for residents of Werribee and for the future East Werribee Employment Precinct.

I encourage you to forward this email to fellow community members in Wyndham so that they can subscribe and follow up local issues with my office at the details provided above.

  • Regional Rail Link Opening
  • Ambulance Service Award Nominations

ROYAL COMMISSION INTO FAMILY VIOLENCE

The Royal Commission into Family Violence started its important work last week hearing from academics, experts and survivors of family violence.

It is excellent to see the number of local organisations and affiliates that have made submissions on this important issue. The Andrews Government has pledged to accept in full all the recommendations of the Royal Commission which is an outstanding measure.

You can view the hearings live at http://www.rcfv.com.au/Public-Hearing-Live-Stream.

Likewise you can read the submissions made to the Royal Commission, including one from the Werribee Electorate Office, at http://www.rcfv.com.au/Submission-Review.

RECEPTION TO THE REGIONAL RAIL LINK

There has been an overall positive reaction to the opening of the Regional Rail Link on June 21st. Parking has been readily available at both Wyndham Vale and Tarneit stations, trains have been heavily utilised but not over-crowded and the Werribee line has been noticeably less crowded.

It has significantly reduced travel times for thousands of residents in Wyndham Vale and Tarneit and made life easier for commuters on the Werribee line. There will be a flow on effect in months to come, the current timetabling arrangements for Melbourne are under review but should result in a large number of new peak hour services being brought online on the Werribee line.

AMBULANCE SERVICE AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Nominations are underway for the prestigious Ambulance Service Medal, which is awarded every year by the Governor General as part of the Australia Day Honours List.

The medal was established in 1999 to recognise meritorious and distinguished service of Australia’s ambulance organisations, volunteers and auxiliary members.

I encourage local residents to nominate local paramedics who have gone above and beyond in their duty to the community. They contribute so much to our society and is right that we recognise that service.

People can nominate local paramedics and ambulance service volunteers by contacting my office.

As your local Member of Parliament I am available to assist you with any State Government related issues. These includes issues like education, health, transport and police.

My office can be contacted at 9741 1133 or at tim.pallas@parliament.vic.gov.au.
