A New Season, A New Treatment

If you had a chance to read my last newsletter you know I had a consult with the country's top Lyme Literate Medical Doctor last week. I want to thank you all for praying and share what is next for me in my health journey. The appointment in DC went very well and I left feeling a lot more hope than I have in a long time.

Although I have made some progress in the last year of treatment, it has become clear that I am in need of something more aggressive and strategic to my body's immune system. Therefore, I hope and pray to begin treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease through an IV in the coming weeks. This protocol will attack my Lyme infection with much more force and will allows my stomach a much needed break from the oral antibiotics I have been on since last year.

Intravenous Lyme Disease treatment has a much higher success rate than others and I am so thankful I have the opportunity to receive it. However, because of differing state and federal laws regarding Chronic Lyme, this treatment protocol will not be covered by insurance. Therefore, with the blessing of SIM and in complete separation from my personal support account, I have come to the decision to participate in crowdfunding. Many of my friends have asked permission to raise funds for my medical costs for several months. It is only now that I have said yes due to the amount needed and the six weeks we have to raise it.

In the next few days and weeks, you will see many ways to become involved in this process! Here are just a few examples of opportunities for you to be involved in if you wish:

  1. Become a CHAMPION. A Champion is someone who wants to be an integral part of raising a particular amount for this campaign. Champions can commit to raising $1,000-$5,000 from within their own communities.
  2. Become an advocate. An advocate is someone who may not feel confident in raising a large amount of money, but would like to help in other areas. Such as advertising, event planning, and/or sharing the need in your church/circles.
  3. Donate. My family and friends have created a YouCaring page that includes a brief introduction, a detailed story of my last 17 years written by my mother, and a trusted avenue to give directly to my medical needs.
  4. Offer to pray. I am completely aware that this goal will not happen outside of the provision of the Lord.  It would be a blessing to me if you would pray for the Lord to provide in mighty ways, that through this people would be educated on the ways of Lyme Disease, and that lives would be changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ as I strive to give glory only to Him.
Thank you for standing by me this last year and thank you in advance as I continue to fight for full-health and remission!
