Dear Children’s Center Families,
Late today, we received information that two parents (one married couple) in our Children’s Center community were diagnosed with COVID-19, which they contracted while attending an out-of-state event. Fortunately, as is true in most cases, the individuals have mild symptoms and are currently recovering at home under the remote care of their physicians. The children are completely healthy.
We have reviewed the circumstances of this situation with the Needham Department of Public Health. Because neither parent was at the temple while ill, the Department of Health assured us that there was no exposure through Temple Beth Shalom.
More generally and unrelated to this specific family, we have been informed by the Needham Department of Public Health that the COVID-19 epidemic has reached the stage of community transmission, and therefore, we should all remain alert to symptoms. These include fever, cough or shortness of breath. Call your doctor if you develop a fever and cough or shortness of breath. If you are diagnosed, please let us know.
I wanted to share this information with you promptly. We will continue to update you as directed by the Needham Department of Public Health.
I know that this is a time of uncertainty and heightened anxiety. The teachers and clergy are here for each of you, as am I, and we encourage you to contact us if there is anything we can do to support you.
Wishing you good health,
