Welcome, new folks!

Hi, there. I've had a number of people join the mailing list recently. I want to make sure everybody gets their free Frosthelm book, Traitors Unseen. If you haven't gotten it, you can get it free here (the site will ask you to sign up for this newsletter, which you're already getting) or here from Smashwords. It's also on Apple BooksKobo, and Barnes & Noble. Please, enjoy with my compliments.

Daros Book Tour

This past week, Daros went on a book tour, visiting a bunch of book bloggers, reviewers, interiewers, and Instagram book enthusiasts from all over the world (including paperback copies sent to India and the Phillippines). Lots of nice reviews of the book as the people at the tour spots spent some time with Brecca Vereen, Navigator Frim, and Lyra on the war-torn dusty mining world. I've included some links to a few of them below:

Writing and Unexpected Distractions
I have been making some progress on my next sci-fi story, the space marine archeology story I wrote about in my last newsletter. That was going pretty well until one of my relatives suffered a sudden accident, and I've needed to help them out for a bit. Everybody's OK and recovering, but it has been an exciting week, and I didn't get much writing done. Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get back to it. Here's an AI-drawn picture based on the phrase "female space marine outside an alien ruin." I've really been enjoying messing with the MidJourney AI art software.

Fun sharing and collaboration
I was able to share my latest unpublished work, Got Trouble, with my dad, and he's been following the adventures of Glynnis as she navigates some unexpected (and funny) adventures. I included a visit to a remote location in the book that we visited together on a family trip, and my dad sent me a gleeful email immediately when he got to where the place was mentioned. My dad's a writer, too, having completed many novels during and after a long career as a college professor and administrator, so it's been fun talking with him about our books and our approach to writing.

Some stories to try

I'm part of several author collectives, and we share each other's work to try to help all of us reach more readers. In many cases, the books we share are are free or discounted. Sometimes, they ask that you sign up for a newsletter like this one.

First, I have Dawn of Destiny: In Legend Forged, an Arthurian fantasy novel from writer team Luna Fox and F. Lowberry. This book (also a series) tells of a pair of teenagers destined to join modern-day knights of the Round Table. Great stuff, and a fun idea for a book.

Next, I have Wunderkind, a sci fi adventure thriller from ZZ Adams that follows a precocious Oxford student who gets mixed up with time travelers, spies, aliens, and a host of adventures. Well-reviewed, this looks like an exciting book.

Next, I have The Resurrection Job from Shane Shepherd, about a trans-galactic assassin who'se part of a secretive guild. Shane writes episodic sci-fi, where each book is a short installment in a longer series.

Third, I have a really fun premise for a story. In Vexed by Vampires from Margo Bond Collins, a woman facing mid-life and a loser ex goes on a date with a vampire, barely emerges with her life, but also finds herself gifted (or afflicted?) with special powers. This looks like a fun one.

Finally, I have a whole bunch of fantasy books to explore, some single books, some whole series. Have a look and see if there's anything that sounds exciting!

My thanks

I'm so grateful that you've spent some time with my books and are willing to join in on my newsletters. I'm excited about my three new projects, and I look forward to when I can share those with you later in the year. I hope you are all staying safe and enjoying time with family and friends.

May the Bloodmother watch over you -
Dave
