Yeshiyah Amariel spent 7 years with the Nature and Park Authority of Israel and worked in research of the Negev alongside archaeologist Yehuda Govrin since 2002. He founded Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects (Amariel VIP) in 2009 with the core principle of "Assist through PDI or promotion/Development/ Investment." The organization has a conglomeratic business structure to start or support Pro-Israel NGO ventures, and to establish partnerships in academia, publishing, media, community, small businesses and religious institutions. They expect to provide benefits like advisory positions at startup NGOs for qualified members.

Amariel VIP offers young volunteers the opportunity to earn experience and college credits toward degrees in Jewish studies, agriculture, archaeology, history, business, journalism and media. Past partnerships include:
  • Soup kitchens in Israel including Meir Panim in New York, Jerusalem and the Negev
  • Ecological and community projects like the Netanya beach clean-ups with the Walk About Love
  • Religious and community ventures like Project Torah in South Africa
Current partnerships and supported ventures include:
  • Archaeology: Tel Arad Restoration Project
  • Media ventures like Inside Israel
  • Kosher Culture Foundation in Florida and Jerusalem
  • Donations to GiveStar in Los Angeles

Deb joined with Puzzle Israel, an Israel based tour company, this past spring.  Puzzle Israel was founded 4 years ago by two young Israelis, Nir Margalith and Guy Marom, at about the same time that Deb founded her own Israel tour company, Journey Israel, LLC.

Deb grew up in Chicago and has lived there her whole life. But since first traveling to Israel at age 21, she learned a love of country and people she hadn't known before. She has since been back and forth to Israel dozens of times.

Each time Deb goes to Israel, she feels it's as if it's the first time. The feeling when she lands. The feeling when she hears Hebrew all around. Pure joy and excitement.

So after practicing law for many years, Deb decided to take that joy and excitement and share it with others. She started Journey Israel because she knew there was a better way to see Israel than "on the bus, off the bus" tours. After learning that Nir, Guy and the entire Puzzle Israel team had the same goal and understanding, she decided to team up with them to enable her to do even more.

Deb's passion for the people and culture and sights and sounds of Israel is contagious, and together with Puzzle Israel, she hopes to pass that passion along! Deb works with families and groups and communities to design journeys that highlight the land, people and culture and everything else that Israel has to offer.
