December 2020 Newsletter

A Message From Our Chair

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff at MARINElife I would like to wish all our Supporters, Surveyors, Wildlife Officers and Volunteers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Thank you so much for the contribution you have been able to make during a tumultuous 2020. We hope you have a great, but careful, time over the holidays and that you can share our optimism that we will be able to fully resume our important conservation work in 2021.

Equally, I extend the thanks of everyone at MARINElife to all the vessel operators and other suppliers who continue to enable our scientific research of the seas.

Archie Robertson.

Work With Us!

We are recruiting for fundraising volunteers!

We are putting together a team of Volunteer Fundraisers who will assist in the following areas:
    • Engaging with communities
    • Creating corporate partnerships
    • Writing up compelling applications to trusts & foundations

Previous fundraising experience isn’t necessary, as we’ll provide you with training.

This is a flexible role that can be shaped around the interests and skills of the volunteer, so if it sounds interesting, but you’re unsure if you’d be able to do all the elements, please do get in touch and have a chat. You may still be able to make a vital contribution to the work of MARINElife.

Full details about this position can be found on our website.

If you would like to find out more about this role, and express your interest in joining our Fundraising team, please get in touch with Simon McPherson, Fundraising Officer for MARINElife.

Get Running

We have four places for the 2021 London Marathon!

The 2021 event is due to take place on Sunday 3rd October, so there’s plenty of time for you to get training if you’re interested.

We’re asking for a minimum target of £1,000 to be raised from each runner.

If you think you’re up for the challenge then email Alex Denny.

If we get overfull then we’ll have a ballot, so good luck!

Proprietor, tour guide and trip organiser Sam Cunningham has very kindly offered to give a £5 off voucher for use on a Dolphin Watch UK trip in 2021* if you sign up to our supporter/Kid’s Club scheme throughout December.
