A joyous noise at LOHADA during Christmas

The pleasures of Christmas at LOHADA centers seem simple to most of us. A new dress or shirt to wear to church. A meal with spiced rice and a little meat. Maybe a bottle of soda. But to the children we serve, these celebrations are a miracle. "We have very loud Christian music, Christian films and a lot of dancing and singing," says LOHADA director Happiness Wambura. Our heartfelt thanks to all the donors, including Steve Clark and Greg and Tricia Allenby, who help make Christmas the most blessed day of the year for so many children.

Holiday letters from two lives forever changed

From Habakuki

I came to LOHADA when I was five months old. My grandmother brought me because she couldn't take care of me. LOHADA is my home but I will visit my grandmother at Christmas. She will cook pilau (spiced rice) and we will have many sodas. I am 14 years old now; I have graduated from Camp Joshua this year.

Life at LOHADA is very good. There is food. I have lived here for 13 years. The best thing I like here is the volunteers. They teach us English and bring many gifts to us.

I like mathematics, English, science in the class. I don't like eating dagaa, or small fish. Next year I am going to secondary school. I will be an engineer when I grow up.

From Shadrack

My name is Shadrack and I am 19 years old. This year I am graduating from my secondary education. I came to LOHADA when I was five years old.

I want to thank all of you who have walked with me this journey. I am not done yet. My plan is to go as high as university. I have done the national exams. I hope next year to join high school.

Thanks so much for your support. Without you I wouldn't have gone this far. It's Christmas time. Best wishes to you all.

Help with their tuition.
Sponsor a child: A perfect holiday gift

LucySponsorship Drive: Five new children supported

The harsh reality of poverty is this that children continue be born into it. As many of our students graduate, we continue to rescue children who are in danger of malnutrition, abuse and abandonment.

But you answered the call. This month, two more LOHADA children received sponsorship. Though Eric and Alyssa Kramer have just had their own child, they decided to help support another. They have Santiellesponsored little Lucy, above.

Amie Holland of Kelowna, British Columbia, has sponsored Santielle. Amie volunteered at LOHADA in 2013 with Penticton Secondary School. She obviously never forgot what she saw.

LOHADA offers its sincere thanks to Amie, Eric and Alyssa.

Note: If you already have sponsored a child, please check your subscription to ensure that payments are still being made. Your contributions mean the world to children in need! Need help? Email Robin.
