You're Invited - Official Opening of Lakeshore Rd Bridge November 17

Dear BIA members,

Great news, the bridge work will be completed earlier than expected and will be open for the Tree Lighting Ceremony!  Please see invitation below.

Official re-opening of the Lakeshore Bridge
over Sixteen Mile Creek

Join Mayor Rob Burton as he unveils a commemorative plaque and cuts a ribbon to officially re-open the bridge.  After the ceremony, Mayor Burton will board the town’s vintage fire truck and be the first vehicle to cross over the newly completed bridge.

The bridge will officially open to motorists and pedestrians that evening.

The new bridge now features two travel lanes, a center turn lane, bike lanes, wider sidewalks, new railings and street lighting as well as two new pedestrian lookouts.

The completion of the bridge marks the first step in the rejuvenation of Downtown Oakville. The Lakeshore Road Reconstruction and Streetscape project will begin in 2019 and be completed over a two year period.

Date: Friday, November 17
Time: 3:30 p.m.

Parking is available in the Central Library lot on Water Street.
The ceremony will take place in the centre of the bridge.

Please note that some finishing work will still need to be completed following the bridge opening to traffic, but this work can be completed while the bridge is in use.
