Mercedes-Benz 10K Event
Dear BIA members,
On Sunday, April 24, 2016 runners will be racing through downtown Oakville for the Mercedes-Benz 10K. This year we want to get involved in this great community event and welcome runners to beautiful downtown Oakville!
The Mercedes-Benz 10K run raises money for The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children which is a local charity supporting children, youth and their families in the Halton and Peel region. The Lighthouse is a forum for companionship with others who have experienced a ‘life altering death.’ This run is an annual fundraising initiative to support the great work that Lighthouse does. The race is a fun challenge for your staff to participate in while fostering relationship with and supporting the Oakville community.
For more information please visit mercedes10k.com and read below.
How can your business get involved?
Downtown businesses can form run/walk teams to participate in the 5 or 10K on April 24, 2016 with team t-shirts and branding. Why not challenge your neighbouring business to put together a team? Fostering friendly competition for a great cause.
Businesses that run can use promo code LH10 to get $10 off registration.
How can your business make downtown Oakville their post run destination?
Everyone running in the Mercedes-Benz 10K will have worked up quite an appetite. We want the 2500 runners and 1000+ spectators to choose downtown Oakville as their post run destination.
If your business decides to provide an offer it will be communicated to participants through:
- Welcome runners to downtown Oakville with signage and spectators
- Give-a-ways or discounts to runners
- Lunch or brunch specials
- Offers communicated to participants ahead of time
If interested in providing a special or discount to runners please email your discount to email@example.com.
- Electronic race kits that all 2500 runners are sent prior to the race
- Oakville 10k’s Facebook (2119), twitter (782)
- Lighthouse’s Facebook (651), twitter (190) and Instagram (21)
- Downtown Oakville BIA’s Facebook (4534), twitter (7948) and Instagram (429)
- Signage provided by the BIA that is displayed at Appleby College
For businesses interested in forming a team or if you have any questions regarding the run please email Deirdre Thomas, Volunteer Marketing & Events Manager for The Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to see you race day!
