Sidewalk Sale Dates & 2016 events

Dear BIA members,

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to complete the survey!
Based on responses from the survey, it was clear that desired dates for this year's Sidewalk Sale will be June 9-12.

Furthermore, 72% of respondents were from retail and 62% of those respondents are willing to offer extended hours during the event. The BIA will indicate on marketing materials that extended hours are available and vary based on business (exact terms to be determined). Thank you for offering extended hours!

Join us for Egg-sperience Downtown Oakville: Not your typical Easter egg hunt!
Saturday, March 26, 2016 1-3 p.m.
This year Downtown Oakville is pleased to present a brand new event – Egg-sperience Downtown Oakville: Not your typical Easter egg hunt!  Downtown Oakville feels that the fun of searching for exciting treats should be for everyone, not just kids. This hunt will include great prizes for both grown-ups and kids!  Re-experience the fun of your childhood while collecting colourful eggs to win fantastic prizes unlike any you’re used to the Easter bunny bringing. Prizes include a luxury car for the weekend, gift certificates for downtown shops and restaurants, a secret grand prize, and of course, delicious treats!
This fun event takes place on Saturday March 26th with registration starting at 12:30 p.m. in the Towne Square, and the hunt running from 1 p.m. through to 3 p.m.  Eggs will be hidden outside, throughout Downtown Oakville (please note eggs will not be hidden inside stores).  But wait… since us big kids are in on the fun, the hunt can’t be that easy… You must find the right combination of eggs to redeem your prizes!  Instructions will be provided upon registration.  But don’t worry, everyone will walk away with delicious treats and fabulous prizes!  This is a FREE event, open to all ages.
Will you be the one to find the grand prize egg?  Don’t miss out on this exciting new way to Egg-sperience Downtown Oakville!  And why not make a day of it, kicking off the hunt with a delicious lunch, or rewarding your fantastic egg-hunting skills with mouth-watering dinner in one of the many restaurants downtown?  This is most certainly “not your typical Easter egg hunt!”
How can your business get involved in this egg-citing event?
The number one way to get involved in this event is by supplying prizes. Your businesses prize can be as little or as big as you’d like. We’re looking for the prizes to be a representation of everything downtown Oakville has to offer! The main idea around this event and the prizes are to highlight the downtown and get event attendees into your businesses.
When donating a prize please make sure that your prize will do this for your business: have time limitations (maybe it’s only good for the event day?), it doesn’t have to be entirely free (discounts are a great prize), samples, experiences, the more creative the better!
Prizes could be:
  • BOGO’s
  • Come in for a free cookie
  • Half-priced drinks
Gift Certificates
  • Spa treatment
  • Dinner for two (or one, whatever works best for your business)
  • Nail polish
  • Samples
  • Small items
  • Personal shopping and consultations
  • Wine-tastings
  • Cooking class
  • Art class
Want to get involved but not sure what you can do? Set up a meeting with us, we’d love to brainstorm and help you come up with something great at events@oakvilledowntown or call Brittany at 905-844-4520 ext. 12.
