At this point, we are planning a few in-person circles with limited seating but also Zoom circles for folks who prefer them or need them for accessibility reasons. Choose one of two Samplers next week, one in-person and one via Zoom! More classes on our website under Writers. Hope to see you in the circle!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY

Celebrating our Zora Neale Hurston Fellow

We were pleased to meet in person this week for a final circle with Emily Mitchell, our Zora Neale Hurston Fellow in Placemaking, Community-Building, and Literary Arts this past spring. An artist and UNF fine arts senior, she’s made a beautiful art and writing journal about her work with us this past semester and will read about her experience Friday during our Writers’ Reception. And now we welcome Jasmin Sotto as our college intern for the fall; she’s studying Communications at FSCJ and is passionate about art and writing and the work we are doing. Welcome, Jasmin, and thank you, Emily!

Meanwhile, we’ve been drinking tea and holding lots of planning meetings about the upcoming semester, using talking stones and candles to make our Zoom meetings as enjoyable as possible. Plus it was fun on Tuesday night to share our work with the women of the Jacksonville chapter of Zonta International. Zonta is dedicated to advancing the status of women locally and worldwide through service and advocacy. Check them out and join in. —JW
