Winter 2016

New Year’s resolutions. By now, you’re either patting yourself on the back for staying on track…kicking yourself for a moment (or three) of weakness…or tired of hearing about resolutions all together!

It’s never too late to set a goal that’s easily achieved and great for your business. I’m talking about productivity, and simple steps you can take to boost it—starting by looking UP.

Did you know that the way you light your workplace directly impacts morale and productivity? Updated lighting sets an upbeat mood, makes paperwork and computer screens easier to read, increases staff and customer safety, showcasesyour products in the best possible light, and can even improve sales.

One client told me that before he replaced the inefficient lighting in his workplace, it was difficult for people driving by to tell if he was even open at night!

As the saying goes, out with the old, in with the new. The New Year is the perfect time to commit to an LED lighting retrofit. For more helpful tips, read my guest editorial in the January issue of The Voice, published by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.

All the best to you in 2016, from all of us at Thayer Lighting!

Patti Thayer, President

Karl Arvidson receives promotion

Karl Arvidson has been promoted from operations manager to vice president of operations at Thayer Lighting. Since joining the Thayer team in 2011, Karl has overseen hundreds of energy efficiency and lighting improvement projects, and has designed some of the largest LED upgrades in the Rockford region.

“It’s rewarding to know that with each project, I’m helping to improve a local business’ comfort, safety and efficiency,” says Karl. “I look forward to taking on new challenges and responsibilities in my new role.”

Karl is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, an associate member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and a recipient of LS1 certification from the National Association of Independent Lighting Distributors (NAILD).

Business shines at North Towne Mall

Businesses at Rockford’s North Towne Mall are being shown off to their best advantage, thanks to a recent outdoor upgrade by Thayer.

During Phase I of this sizeable project, the mall’s walkways were brightly illuminated with LEDs. Phase II involved replacing the parking lot’s orange-hued, 400-watt HPS lamps with 10-year-warrantied LED fixtures.

North Towne Mall can expect a projected 69% annual savings in energy costs! In less than two years, this investment will have paid for itself.

“Our tenants and customers are very pleased with the pure, white light. It looks very natural—a big difference,” says Building Engineer Gus Lamesch.

Thanks, Gus, we agree—happy shopping to all!

Confused about utility rates? Let Thayer go to bid for you!

Tired of confusing calls trying to sell you the “best rates” on utilities? Businesses are being bombarded by random callers who claim they’re looking out for your best interests—when what they’re really looking for is a big commission from the supplier they represent.

Thayer Lighting does not represent any one company. Rather, we work with a broker who searches the most competitive rates from a wide menu of reputable commercial/industrial electric and gas suppliers. We take the top 6 and pass them along to you—and it doesn’t cost one extra cent when we “go to bid” for you by shopping top-tiered, third-party utility companies!

Contact Jan at 815-282-1112 or jan@thayerlightinginc.com for more information on how you’ll save when we shop.
