Springs Around The Corner:

Let the Real Estate Buying and Selling Season Begin!

Dear friends and family,

It is hard to believe that Spring is right around the corner. I feel so privileged to have started this new year strong in building my Real Estate career and giving back to the community. I want to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to my February volunteer event. Read below for a recap and how to get involved in March. Remember to Spring Your Clocks forward one hour this Sunday, March 9, 2014.

Just as our clocks will Spring forward, so will the Real Estate Market in the Portland-Vancouver area. As the Real Estate Buying and Selling season begins, expect the inventory to increase and the active days on market for houses to shorten. If you are interested in possibly selling your house, or looking into buying a new house, feel free to call me to learn more about the process and get started.

Wishing everyone a great March!

Make sure you understand your credit score!

With Spring comes the start of the Buying and Selling Real Estate season in the Portland-Vancouver area. There are a lot of things both buyers and sellers must be aware of as they prepare to enter the Real Estate Market. One big concern for buyers is obtaining a mortgage with a low interest rate. This months Real Estate blog covers the importance of Credit Scores, often referred to as FICO scores, for obtaining a mortgage.

Whenever someone applies for a loan, be it a credit card or a mortgage, lenders want to be able to asses their risk. Credit reports help lenders make that assessment. Three separate credit reporting agencies keep track of credit use and report scores. When determining whether or not to lend to a homebuyer, the lender will review the buyer’s credit or FICO score to get an idea of the buyer’s payment history, total debt, applications for new credit, and types of credit used. Buyers can improve their credit score in several ways including paying active past due accounts to current status and pay outstanding revolving debt down to as close to zero as possible.  For more advice on improving credit, as other information on credit scoring, visit:

Give Back at Friendly House!

Join myself and other volunteers on Thursday, March 13th to transform Friendly House into an event space for their big Spring Auction. Friendly House is a non-profit neighborhood center and social service agency in Portland offering community recreation and education. We will be rolling out floor mats, moving furniture, decorating, setting tables & chairs, and arranging auction rooms. There will be a mix of light, medium, and heavy lifting, depending on your ability. You're welcome to join us for a couple of hours or the entire evening. You don't need to arrive precisely at 5pm, if you're coming from work, school, etc. Pizza, drinks & snacks will be provided by Friendly House for volunteers. I have 10 volunteer spots reserved for my group, so please e-mail me to reserve your spot.

This Month's Featured Business: Beastie Boutique

All right all you cat and dog lovers, this month’s business is for you! Beastie Boutique is a locally owned pet boutique and natural pet food store located in Salmon Creek, WA. Did I mention, they also happen to have great grooming services. The owners, Kristina and Roger McLeskey have created a pet haven in Salmon Creek. Additionally, Kristina really has taken her passion for pets to a new level, owning 5 dogs, 4 of them rescues. She sees the drastic need for helping these animals and uses Beastie Boutique as a resource. Most of the employees at Beastie Boutique foster rescue animals and/or have adopted rescue animals. The store offers frequent adoption days and currently they are working on forming their own rescue group. Next time you need a new bag of pet food or some fun pet fashion, stop by Beastie Boutique and say "Hi!" to Kristina  for me (pictured to the left with her dog Beau).
