TRAVELLING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS ??
Dear Friends and Family,
We wonder how you feel about Christmas this year? Excited? Tired? Nervous?
I write these words with mixed feelings. We hope to be on a plane in 48 hours travelling "home" for Christmas. But one hour later we will have our test to see if we are covid-free and fit to fly on Saturday. Excited, tired and nervous!
Strange times, not easy for any of us, full of uncertainties for all of us.
Yet as we look back over 2021 we have
much to be thankful for. We're thankful for: Our health and the health of our extended family. Friends and family who have been there for us in the difficult periods of the year. A church family whom we love deeply and happily serve. Work which energises (and often tires) us but that we really enjoy,
We're grateful that
the kids have "survived" another year.
Réka settled in her new school.
David enjoyed a year where he actually attends his new school and
Emily plods on through her school and then bounces around happily during her gymnastics. We had a new arrival to our house which has increased the noise somewhat! A Cajon which everyone enjoys.
Work has been both a challenge and a blessing. The
Acorn Bible Training is developing well, and we love the fun, energetic, eager-to-learn group of youth leaders God sent. We are delighted to have
András join the team and we are happy for
Anna as she heads slowly towards maternity leave. Our
new office space has inspired us, and various
staff training events have stretched us well.
Most of all though, we are grateful that at this time of year we can
wonder again at the Christmas story. We really enjoyed being a part of our church choir which helped us get in the Christmas mood. (Even in September!)
Preparing our students to teach youth groups from Matt 1:18-25 was so rich and fun. And enjoying an advent devotional book as a family has focused our tired minds at the end of a day.
Christmas Carol Concert with Randy Mayfield
So as we sign off we hope and pray that both we and you all can enjoy Christmas hugs with those we love this year.
