Dog-friendly holidays

 
Tintern Abbey Cottage, Foxes Reach, and Vanilla Cottage have well fenced and gated gardens with dog bowls and spare leads provided. These cottages even give free holidays to Irish setters!

Pick up a copy of  Sammy’s Walks, which contains over 20 dog-friendly walking trails with information about facilities, such as areas which allow you to picnic with your four-legged friend.

Symonds Yat Rock Lodge’s dog friendly accommodation gives you the choice between self-catering or B&B. They provide facilities for washing mucky pups and purpose-written walks which start at the front door to take you past dog-friendly pubs.

Mother's Day 

Say thank you to mum this Mother’s Day and treat her to a delicious three course Sunday Lunch Carvery. Whisk your mum over to Whitemead Forest Park and let her put her feet up in their private dining suite!  All mums will receive an extra special gift on the day. £15.95 per person.

Harts Barn Cookery School is all about ‘cooking for all’ - the ‘Chocolate Dreams’ and 'French Macaroon' masterclasses are wonderful treats to take part in as a family or pair for Mother's Day.

Make a lasting memory at Puzzlewood for Mother’s day. Mums with children will have the opportunity to have a professional family photograph taken in this magical setting, which is e-mailed to her free of charge!
 

Activities for the solo traveller


If you've always wanted to try a new hobby, when better than on a solo holiday? Meet new people, learn a new skill and concentrate on yourself.

Taurus Crafts celebrates creative design and healthy living. Bringing together arts, crafts, designer gifts and wholesome food, here you can eat, shop, relax and learn painting, knitting and crocheting, chocolate making, jewellery making, stone carving and more!

Hot Pot Pottery have announced dates for their exciting re-opening on Good Friday (4th April). Their two hour classes are taught in groups of two-six people to learn slab work, hand building and throwing. 

Tudor Farmhouse have got a number of workshops their guests can try whilst staying at the hotel - why not try your hand at chocolate making, a photography course or even a day learning from a milliner?
 

Events 

7th March - join Chepstow Racecourse for its brand new Irish Raceday. 

6th-16th March - International Women’s Day at Monmouth Women’s Festival with walks, talks, fashion and workshops in support of the Home Start charity. 

14th March - the new ‘Outdoor Feasts’ project by Taurus Crafts  opens at the Taurus Crafts 2015 Beer Festival. Alongside a fantastic selection of real ales, delicious food and live music, there will be activities for children and a mini market. Free.

26th March - Humble by Nature opens a new adventure playground and a climbing frame constructed from a tree felled on the farm!  Visitors can even keep an eye on the lambing shed with the ‘Lamb Cam’ in the cafe!

29th March - racers head down for the annual Forest of Dean Spring Trails Half Marathon! Proceeds to support charities, both locally and nationally.
