Spring into summer

Long evenings and a Bank Holiday Weekend 23-25 May are the perfect combination to visit and plan fun things to do. As spring turns into summer, we have a series of exciting festivals and events to plan your holiday around...

The Welsh Perry and Cider Festival (23-25 May) will have 100 products as well as music and crafts. Then, on 6 June, consider dropping by the Sausage and Ale Festival at Hillside Brewery.

On 30 May, Peppa Pig and George will be at the Dean Forest Railway, a particularly fun day for young families combining a train ride with special treats like a bouncy castle and, of course, the chance to meet Peppa Pig.

Fans of bands and choirs will want to time a visit to coincide with Proms in the Park at The Speech House (20 June), which will conclude with a firework finale.

Festival in the Forest takes place 4-5 July at Whitemead Forest Park in Lydney. Venture into a mystical woodland to meet nymhs, fairies and tree folk of the Forest of Dean and enjoy singalongs, competitions, crafts and even pizza-making. Children are free, and adults are £7.

In the height of summer (18-19 July), Open-air Shakespeare takes place at Wyndcliffe Court Sculpture Gardens. BG Theatre Company will perform Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night. With family tickets available for £35 (2 adults and 2 children) this should be a fun family setting.
