With the sun shining happily over the past few weeks, summer has made a notable entrance!

Local businesses are ready for the holidays - there's so much on so there's no excuse to waste a single day. From creative workshops to river fun, adrenalin fuelled sport, fine wine and picnics, we can't wait till school's out!

Here's everything you'll need to know about what's happening in the Wye Valley & Forest of Dean in the upcoming months...

For the younger children, Taurus Crafts have a 'Once Upon a Time Activity Session' making puppets, masks and instruments - every Tuesday!  (£5, just drop in)

Of course, there's no better time to chug along with Perrygrove Railway than when the sun is shining over the Wye Valley. (Adult ticket £6.80 and child £5.30)

If you can't make the real thing, The Tintern Old Station has miniature train rides and a wooden play train too, as well as plenty of space to play.

Or Hot Pot Pottery at The House of Bread invite families to get creative, painting to their heart's content and enjoying snacks from the cafe - open every day this summer!

If the older kids are looking for something more adventurous, Forest Leisure has plenty of activities throughout the holidays such as races, crafts, boxerfit, bush craft, snorkelling, kayaking, football coaching and cycling

Join in on the Kids Cycling Camps at Pedalbikeaway which run every Tuesday throughout the summer; mornings aimed at 5-8 year olds and afternoons aimed at 9-12s. £10 a session for the morning or £50 for full 6 week course.

Yeeha Outdoor always has plenty going on such as spoon carving, glow worm hunts, crafting bow and arrows and survival skills for the hunters and gatherers among you!

For those looking for a bit of romance, Tudor Farmhouse has a fantastic summer package with B&B, dinner, Prosecco and hamper with local goodies. What more do you need for a getaway for two!

You can't go wrong with a meal at the Michelin starred Walnut Tree with its famous cooking craftsmanship. Or spend an evening in the Victorian Grade II listed building, The Foxhunter led by a chef who has worked in the UK's best kitchens.

On a glorious summer day, you could always just keep it simple; grab a picnic and a bottle of wine from Parva Farm and you're good to go!

But of course if you encounter a summer rain shower, you can always get cosy in Wales' oldest cinema/theatre, The Savoy in Monmouth and catch the latest blockbuster. Adult £5.00, child £4.00

Keen to keep active this summer? Well, have you heard of gorge scrambling? Inspire2Adventure lead participants along waterfalls, climbing rocks and balancing above the water - not for the faint hearted...They also run guided walks to develop navigation skills and enjoy the valley views - camping overnight optional!

Way2GoAdventures are experts in Nordic walking; if you've always fancied giving it a shot their taster session on the 2nd August is only £5.00per person!

If you'd rather enjoy a more relaxing pastime, how about a slow kayak down the River Wye with Wye Valley Canoes? Admire the scenery in the sunshine as you bob along the water.
