Pregnancy, COVID-19, and Testing Availability
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on what is known at this time, pregnant people might be at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 compared to non-pregnant people. Additionally, pregnant people with COVID-19 may have an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as preterm birth.
Avenue 360 Health & Wellness and HOPE Clinic both provide COVID-19 testing. If a pregnant or newly postpartum mom has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or thinks she has symptoms, please encourage her to get tested.
If you have any questions about your health, contact Avenue 360, HOPE Clinic, or your healthcare provider directly.

Healthy Women Houston Continues to Serve
Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton, Poet Laureate for Houston writes in Glamour about her experience giving birth to two babies as a Black woman. She says, "Black women must have advocates too. Ones that stand in the gap when their hearts are racing and their lives are in danger. Ones that insist that they have the right to stand up and leave; to demand that they be listened to; to live a life where we can hold our children and smile."
The Healthy Women Houston Community Care Coordinators strive to be that advocate for pregnant women, providing access to high quality, personal medical and behavioral healthcare and trusted social service support referrals to connect the woman to the services she deserves. Healthy Women Houston continues to support current members and as well as enroll new members. Refer a woman today by completing the online referral form.
