September greetings from Debrecen , a heart of Calvinism in Hungary, which we visited on our 17th wedding anniversary on September 4.
Thank you for your prayers, hospitality and financial support which enabled us to spend significant time with family in the US this June-July.

VALUE OF THEOLOGY

A good part of August, after we returned from the US, David was preparing and then leading a group of 30 Moldovan missionaries through a study of 10 main Christian doctrines. Yulia’s convenient knowledge of Russian made her into a great partner and translator for this 2-week course. We were encouraged by our Moldovan colleagues’ mature thinking about practical use of learning and understanding theology.

Inga wrote,

“Almost everything in our life - our attitude towards it, motives of actions, desires, behavior - depend on our idea of God. I want to think about God the way He deserves. I would like the knowledge about Him to be systematized and not chaotic.
I would like to know Him more.
A correct understanding of God leads to a life that becomes a blessing not only for me, but also for people who come into contact with me, I think, for future generations too”.

GOING WEST

We recently had a fruitful conversation with newly appointed pan European Cru leader, Javier Garcia. He affirmed our work to build missionaries across Eastern Europe by teaching them to become biblically and theologically discerning followers of Christ. He also encouraged our team to expand the ministry of building up Christian leaders to include missionaries who live and serve in Western Europe!
We ask you to pray for our team which is coming together (our team members live in the USA, Hungary, Poland and Croatia) at the end of September. We desire to pray, discuss and plan together the ways to build and encourage Western European missionaries in addition to our beloved Eastern Europeans whom we know well!

COLOSSIANS

Yulia continues to invest in women in Hungary and Ukraine through providing a weekly in person and online group Bible studies (local church Bible study group -8 nations represented on the photo above).
Who is Jesus Christ? How do we live worthy of God, how do we please Him?
Pray for special insight from the Lord as we dive into the book of Colossians together.
With great thanksgiving I am happy to report that two other women: British Sophie and Brazilian Andrea, who were initially part of my study group, now lead two new Bible Study groups with women from our church!

NEWS FROM THE SOCCER PITCH

David is volunteering to coach the high school boys soccer team this fall. David gave a ride to Joshua. He is a new student from South Africa in Tosha’s class. Unprompted, Joshua told David that he is considering the Christian faith. He shared that his mother is Jewish and his dad has a Christian religious background. It’s his dad who insisted that Joshua came to our school.
Please pray David continues to build trust with Joshua and helps him learn about the essence of personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
