SEFORÏS is a multi-disciplinary research programme that investigates the potential of social enterprises to enhance the inclusiveness of societies.

SEFORÏS News

It has been a very intense period for SEFORÏS in the past months.

A first set of country reports, based on a survey with over 1.000 social enterprises, was published in September. The reports offer interesting findings in the way social enterprises operate, how they are funded (or not) and which business models they follow. The cross-country report was published one month later and is looking into holistic facts and figures about social enterprises in Europe, China and Russia.

And there's more exciting news: on 9 December SEFORÏS is organising its first International Conference called 'Insights from & for social entrepreneurs: Global patterns, local realities' at the Aston Business School Birmingham (UK). Registration is free of charge, but mandatory! All details can be found on our website. The second, and final, SEFORÏS conference will take place on 16 and 17 March 2017 in Brussels. Save the date!

Happy reading!

The cross-country report

Social enterprises are major contributors to Europe’s economy and, while “firmly anchored” in market realities, they maintain a “profound commitment” to their social mission, according to our pioneering international study.

A post about SEFORÏS' cross-country findings was also published on the blog of renowned Stanford Social Innovation Review.

The MOOC

Social enterprises that were interviewed by the SEFORÏS team are given the opportunity to follow a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on social entrepreneurship. The first course was given by Prof. Dr. Ute Stephan on Social enterprises and social change: Strategies for social impact can now be watched on our YouTube channel!

“The contents of the course are relevant and present in a simple and clear way the theme of social enterprises and social change, based on the conceptual model presented by Dr. Ute Stephan." Fábio Bourscheid, Lisbon University, Portugal.

If you would like to enroll in our MOOC as well (on a separate platform called edX) please send an email to intern@oksigenlab.eu.
