Head Master's Newsletter | 28th November 2019

The Movember weekend has seen us raise over £16,000 and take first place in school fundraising for the charity. We are so grateful to every boy, girl, sibling and parent from across every section who gave their time to swim or support over the weekend. It has meant so much to the staff team who spent several weeks making sure it was possible.... from organising which swim lane when, to getting boys up in the middle of the night to swim, to making sure we had energised life guards throughout the night and day, to the nitty gritty of checking the risk assessments and making sure everyone was fully nourished.
Those of you who followed the events on twitter will have seen many of the faces who made it happen and it is impossible to thank them all, but to every one of them and to each one of you, my deepest thanks.... these are the things that make Dulwich Prep London great!
Early Years have been doing their Winter Shows and it was just delightful! The children were splendid in their knowledge of their lines and the quality of acting, singing and focus was nothing short of BAFTA deserving. We hope those of you who went to see the children perform enjoyed it as much as I did.
Pre-Prep have been off to the pantomime and seen an excellent production of Sleeping Beauty. The festive season is certainly creeping up on us faster than one would like to believe, but these little ones had the best time and will ensure that the spirit of Christmas is well and truly in full swing! Oh no it’s not...?

And last but in no way least... it is a pleasure for me to announce that Emily Baker has been successful in gaining a post as a Music Coordinator at Hampstead Garden Suburb Junior School, Hampstead. We shall be sorry to lose her but recognise that this is a wonderful opportunity for her. We have loved having her as a core part of the music team... and are relieved to say that we will be retaining her for one day a week for the saxophonists.
Mr Nick Holliday, our bursar, is also leaving us at Christmas to retire. Personally, he has been a wealth of information on the Prep for me and has quietly had a huge impact on the running of the school, its fabric and design during his 15 years here.
I know that the staff, governors, children and I will miss him greatly. He is one of the most humble, straight talking and reliable gentlemen I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We wish him all the very best in his retirement.
