What Do Your See…
Good morning dear reader & welcome to my world for another week. I struggled to keep up this last few days & I guess any surgery slows one down, even something straight forward like a cataract ~ well so it has been for me. All is good though & whilst my inspiration this week to share with you has been with me a few days, time to type has been problematic.
So I would like to thank the Courier Company from Palmerston North this week for my message this morning. I purchased a hose on Grab One quite some time back now & my telephone call essentially confirmed why I had not received it.
The call went something like this: “Hello, can you advise us please where 31 New Street is in Hawera?” Somewhat surprised I replied: “I do not live in Hawera, so I have no idea. I live in Nelson!” “Oh, perhaps this is why there is not a New Street in Hawera?” Very observant, I thought poor lady having to correct an error by someone else. Perhaps my hose will arrive this week after two months?
Then I wondered, ‘how could this have happened?’ Significant difference between Hawera & Nelson, just in miles alone, not to mention the names. Then I thought, as one does, I suspect the company I had purchased the goods from on their web page will have a vision, & values, which one could assume is shared with staff. I am speculating they would not think this error was consistent with their values…
Yesterday, I listened to a message from one Bart Siebelink 1 speaking on a topic entitled Inside Out. One statement he made was in regard to your personal vision, being: “the difference between what you see between your eyes & have in your heart”. And I wonder about a hose company & what does they person in dispatch see between their eyes. I am sure the error did not come from the heart or the vision.
I have suggested before in my articles, there is a difference between dreams & vision, the first typically happens when you are asleep & the second when awake. Dreams come in all shapes & sizes. There are dreams which buzz around in your head like a bee for a few days, then just vanish. Other dreams seem to make a permanent cosy nest in your heart. Then there are dreams which seen to grow daily deep in your spirit until you feel like they are getting so big you will explode.
Often we do not pursue our dreams because we are afraid of failing. It is safer to pet them in private instead of letting them fly in public. Broadcaster & author Chuck Swindoll says; “We are short of eagles & running over with parrots. Content to sit safely on our perches & repeat words; we are fast becoming overpopulated with bright-coloured birds having soft bellies, big beaks & little heads. What would help would be more keen-eyed, wide-winged creatures willing to soar, & exploring the unlimited opportunities 2.
Vision people, or keen-eyed, wide-winged creatures willing to soar, look behind the scenes, drawing greatness, & to do so, one should consider the following three points 3:
What do you see dear reader? My hope today is not somewhere between Hawera & Nelson, but rather to focus on what we can do well & not what we cannot.
- What vision do you have?
- How are you working the vision given you?
- Where do you need to place yourself to achieve & for the vision to take place.
Thank you too for taking the time to be with me once again. I hope my journey may encourage you also. This is Kenn Butler in Paradise, Nelson, with my best wishes for your week ahead.
