Good afternoon dear reader & welcome to my world this week. As many of you all may recall, I can often refer in my life journey these days to the terrible ‘P’ word: productivity. Well, interestingly, one of my suppliers came back this week suggesting, most probably correctly I might add, his productivity was not the greatest on this particular day because of something I had, or had not done as well I would normally…
My mind was alive & reflecting on every decision-making process one makes daily. This often produces a final choice, & depending on how decisive one can be at any time, may or may not prompt action. There are a few truths when it comes to decision making & in my research to support these thoughts going on for this simple country boy, I located the following which seemed appropriate for me:
Logical decisions tend to trump emotional ones. Since emotions can sometimes make us biased or see things in an inaccurate light, basing a decision on logic, rather than on a current emotional state, usually gives you more objective information to make the final call.
Thought-out decisions tend to trump impulsive ones. Because you have spent more time on the problem, you will understand it more thoroughly & be better versed in the variables which might arise from any possible route.
Flexible decisions tend to trump concrete ones. Things change frequently, so making a decision allowing for some eventual degree of flexibility usually offers more adaptable options than a decision which is absolute or concrete.
These are not absolute rules, however. For example, many entrepreneurs trust their gut when making decisions ~ & indeed, instinct can sometimes beat over-analytical thinking. 
So, if you are afraid to make a decision in case it is wrong; I have the following little story to share with you this week my friends:
Former president Ronald Reagan once had an aunt who took him to a cobbler for a pair of new shoes. The cobbler asked young Reagan, “Do you want square toes or round toes?” Unable to decide, Reagan didn’t answer, so the cobbler gave him a few days.
Several days later the cobbler saw Reagan on the street and asked him again what kind of toes he wanted on his shoes. Reagan still couldn’t decide, so the shoemaker replied, “Well, come by in a couple of days. Your shoes will be ready.” When the future president did so, he found one square-toed and one round-toed shoe! “This will teach you to never let people make decisions for you,” the cobbler said to his indecisive customer.
“I learned right then and there,” Reagan said later, “if you don’t make your own decisions, someone else will.” Worst case: if you get it wrong, you will learn what not to do next time… 
You can over-analyse a problem as much as you like dear reader, however, it is probably not going to help anything. It is just going to bring up new complications, force you to second-guess yourself, & possibly double back on a decision you have already made. All of these will make the process more excruciating & will make you unsatisfied with whatever decision you land on. Instead, pick an option early & fully commit to it.
There is no perfect way to make a decision, & there are very few situations in which a decision is ever “right.” However, with these strategies, you will be well-equipped to make more rational, complete, & best of all, satisfying decisions in your life.
