Although we are in the midst of winter, NOVAWE events will be here before you know it! 

NOVAWE has planned many events for 2022. Here are the first five events!

The NOVAWE Member Meeting will be held at the Visitor's Center at Frying Pan Farm Park on Saturday, February 13th! We will have a fabulous lunch and then have an overview of the new USAWE rules and award the Year End Ribbons and prizes for the 2021 season!

One of the benefits of membership is to receive advanced notification of events. All of our events open 2 months before the event. You will need a password to go on our Members Only page on the website and a passcode to open the registration on Striderpro.

To find the passcode:
1. Go to
https://novawe.org/ 

2. Look on the left side menu and select: Members Only.​

3. Type in this password on the next page: WE-together​  (NOTE: This is a new password.)

4. Click on Enter.​

5. Find the event that you want to enter. Look to the far right and you will see the passcode that you will need to use on the Striderpro website to open the registration when the event opens. After the event opens to the public, a passcode is no longer needed.

6. There is a link to take you directly to Striderpro.com.

3-20-22: NOVAWE Working Equitation Clinic with Stephanie Jennings at Almeda Farm

Clinician: Stephanie Jennings
Horses have been the center of Stephanie’s life since she was a small child. As a youth she participated in both 4-H and pony club and has ridden and competed successfully in many disciplines and events. She competed successfully at a national level, and her awards include 1987 NRHA World Champion Limited Non Pro Reiner, Champion Amateur Working Hunter at All American Quarter Horse Congress 3 times, and 3rd place finish in Amateur Hunter Hack at the AQHA World Championship Show.  She has also competed in Dressage, Combined Training, USEF and AQHA All Around classes which include western pleasure, western riding, horsemanship and equitation.  

In 2018, she became involved in Working Equitation and is the 2021 2nd place rider in the Open Level 4 USAWE national rankings. She regularly teaches WE lessons with Tri State Riding Club and co-taught the very popular NOVAWE Movin’ On Up clinic last October. 


Details: Clinic focuses on WE obstacles as well as flatwork exercises to improve execution. There will be 4 sessions of four riders each. Each session is 1.5 hours long. Riders will be organized into Newbie, Intro, and Novice groups. Be sure to put the level you are interested in in the Notes to Organizer box.

4-26-22 and 4-27-22: NOVAWE Working Equitation Clinic with Doreen Atkinson at Frying Pan Farm Park

Clinician: Doreen Atkinson
Doreen Atkinson is a Senior Judge for USA Working Equitation. She has been involved and competing in Working Equitation (WE) for many years. Doreen served on the national board and chaired the Licensed Officials Committee for 3 years. She is currently an At-Large Director on the USAWE Board. Competitively, she is a Masters’ level rider and earned her Platinum Medal in WE, the Bronze and Silver Medals in USDF, and won several Regional and National Championships in dressage, western dressage and competitive trail competitions. Doreen finds WE to be an excellent combination of horse sports that is exciting, rewarding and challenging for both horse and rider. She travels all over North America to conduct clinics and judge WE Events. 

Details: Clinic focuses on WE obstacles as well as flatwork exercises to improve execution. There will be 4 sessions of 3 to 4 riders each. Each session is 1 hour 50 min.  

To allow as many riders as possible to ride with Doreen, NOVAWE asks that you only sign up for one session on one day with Doreen. If you want a second session on another day, email Biddie to be put on a wait list for a second day. You can do that now. novawe.blowry@gmail.com

5-28-22: NOVAWE Working Equitation Schooling Show #1 at Frying Pan Farm Park

Levels offered: L1, L2, L3

Join us for NOVAWE's first schooling show of 2022. Practice what you have learned about Working Equitation and/or use this show to prepare for a USAWE Licensed Show.

6-16-21 and 6-17-22: NOVAWE Working Equitation Clinic with Susan Watkins at Frying Pan Farm Park

Clinician: Susan Watkins

Susan Watkins is a lifelong professional horsewoman well recognized in the Working Equitation world.  Additionally, she has trained and competed in most equine disciplines from Hunters to Ranch Roping. Susan Watkins discovered Working Equitation (WE) in 2010 when it was just becoming known in the U.S. She is a USAWE Licensed “R” Judge and Technical Delegate. She has trained numerous horses for herself and clients including two BLM mustangs that earned National Championships. She has held a variety of Board of Director positions and is a WE trainer, clinician, and avid competitor. 

Susan says “Because of the diversity of training needed, this is the perfect sport for horse and rider. Working Equitation requires consistent, thoughtful training to create the unity and confidence needed to do the sport correctly.” Susan teaches WE at her facility in Riverside, CA and travels regularly as a clinician and USAWE Licensed Judge.  She served as the judge for the July ERAHC Rated Show in New Jersey.  She is committed to promoting good horsemanship and the sport of Working Equitation.

Each session is 1 hour 50 min.  Participants will be able to choose to ride one one day only or sign up for both days. ERAHC's USAWE Licensed WE Show will be on the following Saturday and Sunday.  

Opening Day for Members: April 16, 2022.

 
Looking for volunteers to be Event Secretaries for our clinics and shows! The Event Organizer sets everything up (sign up form, judge or clinician, venue, contract, collecting money, etc.). The Event Secretary takes over the production of the event around 6 weeks before the event. Here is a list of the major responsibilities:
  1. Event Organizer downloads initial list of participants to a spreadsheet. Event Secretary adds participants to spreadsheet from Strider Pro as they come in. 

  1. Communicates with riders within a week of entering  
         Entry is accepted or not 
         Asks for missing documents like Coggins & Releases  

  2. Files copies of Coggins into Coggins folder in novawe.info Google Drive  

  1. Contacts a Course Designer to create the course (for clinics only). After approval of the course from the clinician, updates the Obstacle Spreadsheet in novawe.info Google Drive and communicate needed obstacles to the Obstacle Coordinator.  

  1. Determines which volunteers are needed and updates Volunteer Spreadsheet in novawe.info Google Drive. Volunteer Coordinator will secure volunteers.

  2. Sends email to riders the Wed before the clinic/show with any pertinent details about the show/venue. (Where to check in, venue map/directions, schedule for the day, etc.)
