NOVAWE welcomes Melissa Smith (Mills) as the newest member of the NOVAWE Board! She brings her experience to our organization in teaching WE, organizing events, and gathering volunteers.

Mill's equestrian background began in South Africa where she started riding at a young age. In 1998 Mills moved to the United States to attend college as an Equestrian Business Major. For 11 years she taught professionally at a large lesson barn in Maryland, teaching students of all ages and levels in both dressage and eventing. Over the past three years Mills has been delving into the world of Working Equitation, introducing riders and horses to the enjoyment of obstacle courses and judged shows. Teaching is her passion, and she loves to help riders progress and obtain their individual goals whether they are competing, improving their horsemanship, or just for the love of being with horses.
Summer has arrived! There are opportunities to practice or show Working Equitation not only in Virginia, but also in Maryland and Pennsylvania!  Visit the Events tab on the USA Working Equitation - Region 6 Facebook page for the most complete calendar: https://www.facebook.com/USA-Working-Equitation-Region-6-104203648205844/events/?ref=page_internal

The NOVAWE Working Equitation Clinic with Sue Watkins was a huge success! Thirteen NOVAWE members participated in this clinic.

Sue will be in Maryland for a WE Clinic at Oak Spring Equestrian on July 14 and 15, followed by judging a licensed show there. Barb is looking for volunteers, so if you can help her out, email her at oakspringequestrian@gmail.com
The day after the Sue Watkins clinic, 14 NOVAWE members participated in ERAHC's East Coast Classic #1 USAWE licensed show at Frying Pan (6/18/22 to 6/19/22) from Level 1 (Intro) to Level 4 (Intermediate A).  Everyone had fun; everyone found success either in a small or big way. Here are a few casual photos from the show.

WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS!
Special thanks go to the NOVAWE members who volunteered their time before or during the licensed show to help ERAHC:  Kim Ellis, Stephanie Jennings, Biddie Lowry, Lynsey Moritz, Leslie Painter, Linda Schroder, & Cindy Sikes. Many others stepped in to help set up and tear down the course.
NOVAWE appreciates our Business Members! Please show your support with your patronage.
We are all looking forward to summer weather and WE outings! Hope to see you soon!
