REFLECTIONS CREATIVE ARTS CONTEST - The REFLECTIONS judges have decided who from Frostwood will advance to the next level of competition. Frostwood had the most REFLECTIONS entries in our area -- way to go, Tigers! We will celebrate, reveal results, and distribute ribbons at our cookie party in the cafeteria on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 2:00 to 2:15 p.m. The teacher who had the most entries from his or her class will receive a special award. And we will also return artwork that isn’t advancing to the next level of competition. Parents are invited. Thank you to all Tigers who participated!

SISTER SCHOOL SOLUTION - Due to overwhelming response last year from several different sources, Housman Elementary has a wonderful supply of winter coats for their students and families this year. Instead, the school nurse has requested ELASTIC WAIST PANTS/SHORTS (such as athletic shorts) in all elementary school sizes. They also have a need for NICE SNEAKERS (no cleats, sandals or dress shoes). There will be a collection box under the front stairs for your donations of very gently used items.

Are you looking for a fun and fulfilling volunteer opportunity? Housman Elementary needs you! Volunteer for a two hour shift helping teachers or the librarian once a month, or just once! Contact Catherine Shoaf to be added to the sign up genius.

Catherine Shoaf, Frostwood PTA Sister School Solution Coordinator

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES - Stay Active during Winter Break!  Is it too cold to go outside and play during winter break? Get creative with these indoor activities that will get students and families moving and having fun!

Activity Ideas:
- Play indoor hopscotch: Use painter's tape to create squares on the floor.
- Play Hot Lava: Put several pillows on the floor and space them apart. Instruct kids to jump from pillow to pillow. If they fall off the pillows, they will be falling off into hot lava!
- Go bowling.
- Purchase an aerobic exercise DVD or stream a fitness video to get your heart pumping!
- Play Red Light, Green Light or others small group games that children pick and lead.
- Play Simon Says.
- Build an indoor fort out of pillows and blankets.
- Have a jump rope challenge in the garage! Who can do the most in a minute?
- Start each morning with a 10-minute strech and wake session before breakfast.
- Play charades.
- Practice yoga.
- Go ice skating or roller skating.
- Visit the zoo or aquarium.
- Bundle up and take a hike or a neighborhood walk.

Fourth Grade Play Information:
Last week, your child should have brought home the lyrics to our musical play, On the Radio. We expect your child to use these song sheets to memorize the lyrics to the songs for our play.  This practice time at home can count as some of the required reading minutes for your child’s homework. All words need to be memorized by January 4
th.

Please do not throw these song lyrics away, but keep them until after our play on January 25, 2017.  Your child’s class scene and script were sent home last week, and we expect the parts to be memorized as soon as possible, hopefully before we leave for the winter break. If your child needs an additional script, please have your child contact Mrs. Sykes as soon as possible.
