LIBRARY NEWSBook Character Dress Up Day is this Friday, March 10th.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Hop To It Spring Reading for Kindergarten through 2nd grade is HERE! Reading logs will be going home this week.  They are due back to school right after Spring Break, March 21st.  The students should read 10-15 books (minimum of 10).  We would also love if you could throw in some non-fiction books too!  We will celebrate their accomplishments with a party at a future date.

Thanks so much!
Heather Bothe, Frostwood Librarian

Character Without Question Award - The Character without Question Award is a unique and special recognition given by the Spring Branch Independent School District to honor one student from each school who possess and exhibits outstanding character.  These are responsible students who consistently show respect, caring and kindness to everyone and are always ready to “to do the right thing” in all situations.

At Frostwood this award is given by teachers and peers to a fifth grade student who consistently demonstrates the character traits defined by SBISD and the Frostwood Life Skills.  A Character Without Question award winner is someone who consistently “does the right thing, even when it might be easier to do something else.”  Frostwood’s Character Without Question student for this year is Michael Eubanks.

Michael has attended Frostwood since he was in Kindergarten and has consistently exhibited use of all our Life Skills, with emphasis on integrity, responsibility, dependability, honesty, kindness and caring.  One of Michael’s teachers wrote that he is always kind to others and always helps others, even if it means Michael is the last to join a game or last in line to get equipment because of stopping to help others.

A teacher on lunch duty reflected that Michael will pick up trash on the table that belongs to other students.  Another stated that no matter the situation, the teachers know that Michael can always be counted on to exhibit a high level of responsibility and to do the right thing, even if no one is watching.  Michael is highly respected by his teachers and fellow classmates and is a tremendous role model for other students to follow.

Michael is a leader.  He is the Captain of the 5th grade TAPS & Patrols, and takes his responsibility as Captain seriously and is eager to help his peers in any way he can so that they can be successful.

Please join me in congratulating the Frostwood Character Without Question recipient for the 2016-2017 school year, Michael Eubanks.  Without Question, we feel that Michael has character worthy of this award.

Dorothy C. Thompson, Counselor

Excuse notes can be submitted by phone to number 713-251-5705, email at, or by hand written note to the Front Office. Please include Student’s Full Name, Date of Absence, and Reason for Absence. Students are subject to truancy referrals if they have 3 unexcused absences in a four-week period. LOST AND FOUND - The Lost and Found Bins are overflowing!  Please check the lost and found bins located in the cafeteria for missing jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunch boxes.

ART NEWS - March is Youth Art Month!  In celebration, approximately 30 students will have their art on display at our community arts partner, Magness Orthodontics. Artwork will be on display at Magness Orthodontics starting March 2 thru the end of April.  I will have a list of students participating in this event in the next issue.

Also, special recognition goes to 5th grader Liberty Lang. She is the winner of the Youth Art Month Flag Competition sponsored by TAEA. She was competing with all the districts in the state! Thanks for representing Frostwood!
