Tarot tales from Newtown, Sydney, with a brief mention perhaps, of chai and other fascinating things.

This month I thought I'd share photographs of two things that I have been enjoying of late: the new mandala tablecloth on my tarot table and the new faux lotus flowers adorning my bike basket. If you look carefully you will also see an incense stick burning off to the left of the basket. Of all the scents I sniff while riding my bicycle around Sydney, the smell of incense, baking bread, and popcorn, are my favourites. In an effort to have a more consistently pleasing olfactory experience as I cycle, I have been wanting to create my own wafts of 'something'. Of the three, I decided incense was the most easeful and practical addition to my bicycle. So now, armed with Nag Champa, a lighter and a bit of tape, my rides around town are even more enjoyable. I recommend this!

A few days ago I finally posted on my blog Part 1 of my New York travels this year, specifically called, New York Part 1: Pre Readers Studio (A.K.A Pre Majorly Life Changing Experience!). It features my travels - both tarot related and otherwise - in the days before the tarot conference. Part 2 - revealing all from the conference - will be written and posted soon. :)

Of late, one of my email tarot reading options - the One Minute Wonder - has been attracting a lot of attention. In this type of email reading, I pull one random card for you - your 'Wild Card' - and discuss what it signifies for you for one minute, digitally record it and email it to you. At only $3, they're so cheap it's crazy!

They certainly are fun for me to do, too. For more information about how to get a One Minute Wonder go here (scroll down to 'Email Tarot Readings').

I will be in Auckland from Wednesday August 19 - Tuesday August 25, for a friend's memorial and to catch up with friends and family. I will be back to work for my usual hours on Wednesday August 26.

I still have a couple of spots left this Tuesday August 18, so if you want to see me before I go, see my contact details below.

Tarot Card of the Month ~ Judgment

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

Judgment. It doesn't sound that helpful does it? It may give the impression that your tarot deck is shaking its head, wagging its finger, and tut-tutting you. Which is why I like some of the other names that tarot artists often give this card: Alchemy, Liberation and Rejuvenation.

When the Judgment card comes, I recognise the opportunity to be seen by the wider community in a way that makes sense to us. Instead of people misunderstanding our intentions, the way in which our actions are received is more likely to be in line with how we intended them.

Judgment gives us the opportunity to see how far we have come, in a sudden, spotlight-centric moment. With it also comes the opportunity for a transformed point of view. It's like the apocalypse but without the war and destruction. An apocalypse of the mind and the spirit. And seeing 'apocalypse' translates as 'uncovering' or 'the lifting of the veil', it seems that this month we have the opportunity to uncover powerful insights that we were previously unable to connect with, due to our ignorance. Goodie!

And now for the usual usuals - the bit where the tarot cards shove me out of the way and speak to you directly.

Judgment from The Gorgon's Tarot by Dolores Fitchie says, "Come and reveal yourselves to me, my dears! Don't let your fears get in the way of your true expression. I am not going to punish you, I am going to witness your actions, and teach you to observe yourselves in a more whole and loving way."

Alchemy (Judgment) from the Triple Goddess Tarot by Isha Lerner  & Mara Friedman says, "Dance to the rhythm of the Earth and let your roots reach deep into the ground. Connect with me and trust in your capacity to stay grounded, even as your world changes around you. Find your own song in this movement."

Rejuvenation (Judgment) from Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall says, "Woohoo! See me stand before you with my yowling cat (not to mention my gang of bodiless, freaky, levitating, magic cats) and find the lessons even in the most ludicrous situations that befall you. I'm not going to bring you chaos necessarily, but I will certainly bring you transformation."

Liberation (Judgment) from the Dark Goddess Tarot by the inestimable Ellen Lorenzi-Prince says, "Walk with me from your past into your future. Do not let the old mistakes keep haunting you, they are done now. Find ways to keep moving forward, and trust in your capacity to hold yourself in a space that will ultimately keep you centred rather than scattered."

May your dance with Judgment be full of wisdom,
'Til next month, best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used the Transparent Tarot by Emily Carding. This is a rather unique deck - the images are printed on clear plastic, and you can place the cards on top of each other to get a multi-layered understanding! Read it here, for tarotlogical tales designed to get us out of our comfort zones and into the world with more integrity and power!

[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]

Where the face-to-face, Skype and email readings take place. :-)
I make and sell my very own delicious blend of chai tea - Psychic Sarah's Queen of Cups Chai. I personally select, grind and blend the spices and package every single packet of chai.

1 packet of 220g chai costs AUD$20, and will make you at least 48 large cups of delicious authentic chai tea. (That's 16 litres of chai - have a party!) Read a review about it here.

You can drink a pot of my chai in-house and/or purchase a packet to take home with you at Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher, Newtown, and Petty Cash Cafe, Marrickville. Or you can order it online - I ship all over the world!
