Tarot tales from Newtown, Sydney, with a brief mention perhaps, of chai and other fascinating things.
Does this email look odd and lacking in colourful pretty pictures? It doesn't have to be that way!

I tried the Best Nine of 2016 for Instagram again, and predictably my bicycle is in nearly every photo, along with me as the Death card, me with the lovely snake-friend, with the addition of the Pagan Otherworlds Tarot by Uusi, which I used for the Tarot Reading for the Collective in November. Last year, eight of the nine most popular photos were of me posing with my bicycle, and in seven of the photos I was wearing a tutu (photo evidence here). I'm not sure what happened to the tutus this year, but perhaps I will remedy that for next year. Or not. I'm an intuitive dresser so I can't force these things.

I will be available for readings throughout the festive season, with the exception of most of the public holidays. My office will be will be closed December 25 & 26, open again Tuesday December 27 & Wednesday December 28; closed January 1 & 2, open Tuesday January 3 & Wednesday January 4. My usual Sunday to Wednesday schedule recommences Sunday January 8.

If you are wanting a reading with me before the end of the year, at time of writing I still have a few spots available on Tuesday December 20 & Wednesday December 22, as well as the 27th & 28th. The first available Sunday is January 8, and that day is nearly booked out.

Thank you everyone for supporting my business this year! Whether you came to my tarot office for a reading, met with me via Skype/phone or had an email reading, whether you referred your friends and/or family to me, shared my newsletters or Tarot Reading for the Collectives, or simply read my words or perused my website or thought of me with kindness - it all makes such a difference to my life and I am so very grateful. As a sole trader with a job that doesn't fit in any conventional boxes, having the support of the community means everything to me. Thank you all! I look forward to connecting with you in some way next year, and beyond!

Tarot Card(s) of the Month ~ The Star & The Queen of Pentacles

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

Having two cards tying for most popular is becoming a bit of a thing, and this month is no exception. The Star and the Queen of Pentacles combine forces and bring to us some much needed balm at the end of a huge year.

When I see the Star I instantly feel a calm come over me. I like to think that I can remain open and loving to every single tarot card (they are, after all, aspects of ourselves, and what sense is there in shunning a part of myself?), though I do note a vastly different sensation within when I gaze upon the Star as opposed to, say, the Ten of Swords (one of last month's Cards of the Month). I can still have love for that Ten, though first I have to recover from the slap it gives me.

Time with the Star means time to heal, reflect, recover, renew, and to start to piece back together parts of ourselves that we may have lost when we forgot the importance of being grounded and self-loving. Perhaps here we can prepare ourselves for bigger events that require our wise attention.

When the Queen of Pentacles comes in, we have a chance to be a lot kinder to ourselves, and notice how we can start giving back to others. The Queen of Pentacles' style of giving is bold and beautiful and autonomous. To receive a gift from this Queen is to receive what she feels moved to offer us, which may not be what we were expecting. It is most likely that she knows best.

As always, let us now listen to the various voices of The Star and the Queen of Pentacles, accompanied by images from my personal tarot deck collection.

The Star from the Gaian Tarot by Joanna Powell Colbert says, "Hold what is sacred close to your heart. Know your past without backing away from the pain. Gaze at the path forward, so that you can better trust each step that you take."

The Mother (Queen) of Pentacles from The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans says, "Be still with your knowledge and your warmth. Offer what is needed, and keep it simple. Be available to your own needs as well as those of others."

Stars ~ Spider Woman (Hopi Goddess of Thought & Creation) from The Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince says, "Weave a path of healing that only you can follow. Some things aren't meant to be shared outside of your body. If you choose to share what usually stays hidden, share only with someone who is capable of acknowledging and admiring your divinity."

The Queen of Coins (Pentacles) from The Relative Tarot by Carrie Paris says, "Walk with a purpose that shows others how it can be done. Be soft with your gaze, as others may be fearful of your self-determination: that softness is not weakness however, it is clear and spacious. Invite in those who mirror your heart."

'Til next month, and next year, Solstice blessings,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)
