For those of you who follow my Instagram, you may have seen the above photo of me wearing my new Tower card jumper. I like wearing the so-called 'scary' tarot cards on my person (though I know a stack of pancakes doesn't look that scary!) as each tarot card has the same capacity to help us as well as trip us up. Why be scared of certain cards?!

I also have a Ten of Swords t-shirt that I wear to work sometimes. And if someone is concerned about that card coming up in their reading I can always point to my shirt and say "hey, I'm wearing the Ten of Swords! It's totally fine!

(Btw, if you want more info about the Tower and the 10 of Swords, they have featured in past newsletters: Go here for the Tower and here for the Ten of Swords.)

I'll be heading to New York City at the end of April for the Readers Studio (the International Tarot Readers Conference) once again. I'll be away from April 25 - May 19, so if you want a reading before I go, now is the time to book!

Or you can come and see me post-Readers Studio, which totally revolutionised my life last year! If you didn't read my blogs about the event you can read them here: Part 1 & Part 2. This year I will also be presenting: I am facilitating the breakfast roundtable on the Sunday morning, and will be leading one of the tarot incubator tables, also on the Sunday morning. Sunday will be busy!

If any of you read the tarot - whatever your level and whether you read for others or not - and are wanting to immerse yourself in something tarot-ly powerful, I encourage you to consider registering. This is the second year in a row I am doing a long haul flight specifically to attend this event, so I can assure you it is totally worth doing!

Read on for the Tarot Card(s) of the Month ~ The Five of Pentacles & The Six of Cups!
Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Five of Pentacles & The Six of Cups

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

This month I was not sure whether the Card of the Month was the Six of Cups or the Five of Pentacles. Each day they would both roll out, and as I make the final decision based upon memory rather than keeping a tally, it was hard for me to distinguish a winner.

On Tuesday this week before I began my first reading, I asked for the Card of the Month to reveal itself to me very clearly. And lo and behold, the Six of Cups and Five of Pentacles turned up in equal amounts in most readings for both Tuesday and Wednesday. So I thought, alright, let's try something new: let them both speak to us! So here they are, to relinquish their differences and speak in tandem for us all.

I often see the Five of Pentacles as the "it looks like things are falling apart when they're not really", card. That moment when it looks like things aren't going according to plan...but rather than get anxious and worried, it would be far better to just chill and see what happens next. Because perhaps things could be unfolding in a way that will actually serve us better. Or not. Either way the anxiety and worry gets us nowhere!

The Six of Cups reminds us of the importance of community, and making the effort to turn up for the people we care about. It can be a reminder to ask for help when we feel isolated, rather than just expecting others to show up. This card usually requires a bit of effort on our behalf in order to get the goodies (which can be said for most things, really!).

Now let us listen to the various voices of the Five of Pentacles and the Six of Cups, accompanied by images from my tarot deck collection.

The Five of Pentacles from Stella's Tarot by Stella Kaoruko & Takako Hoei, says, "Run after the prize if you must, but try not to chase things that are not yet ready to yield results." The Six of Cups says, "Far better to connect with community to learn what others have been doing before you, so that you understand necessary skills and feel emboldened to try new ideas of your own."

The Five of Pentacles from Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall, says, "Take a rest if you must when things don't go according to plan, but take peace in the small comforts you can find". The Six of Cups says, "Then reach out to your elders (of age or wisdom or both) to help you reconnect with your purpose."

The Five of Pentacles from The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans, says, "Take time to notice to what is falling away, but remember that all things change and are tainted with mystery, so this need not be surprising or shocking." The Six of Cups says, "And connect with your roots and stand firm in yourself. You are not the first on this land and many have come before you. Do not forget them, and know that everything that is easeful for you today, is because others have paved the way for you. What they did was not trivial, so be responsible with what you say and how you connect."

'Til next month, best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)
