I was reminded of the above quote from Edward Abbey recently and so thought I would share it here with you all. The photo is one I took of Goolay'yari (the Cooks River) last year, so this is the Inner West of Sydney with some wisdom from a man who spent a lot of time in the desert of Utah. I read his book Desert Solitaire some time back and loved being reminded of the power and majesty of nature. [You can borrow Desert Solitaire from Ashfield Library by the way.]

On Saturday April 18 I am hopping on a plane bound for New York City! I'll be there for 10 days, and the reason I am going is to attend the Readers Studio, a huge tarot reader's conference. I will documenting my adventures on Instagram, and Facebook and my blog so you are welcome to follow me there if you wish. I will of course share some tales in my next newsletter as well.

I will be back to work on Sunday May 3 for my usual Sunday to Thursday week. I won't be responding to emails/texts/calls until I return, so if you wish to book in you can contact me from Saturday May 2 onwards - contact details below.

Read on for the Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Knight of Cups.

Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Knight of Cups

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

I like a good jaunt with the Knights, they are a friendly bunch. I think of the Knights as the volunteers of the tarot deck - they turn up ready to serve with a pure heart. Of course, they can get off track just like the rest of us, but their intentions are focussed and direct.

So what will the Knight of Cups inspire in us this month? I think this Knight would like to remind us of our capacity to breathe deeply and slow down enough so that we can listen to what our hearts are trying to say.

The Knight of Cups is good at helping us feel things that we too often push aside because we are so busy busy busy.

So when we spend time with this archetype we connect deeply with our own selves and then we start to share what it is that we are discovering, with others. Because we are listening to our own hopes and fears, we are in a much better position to hear the hopes and fears of others.

Sometimes the events of life pile up and it seems as if it's all going to get too much and we just need to be able to find the pause button so that we can have a break from all the intensity.

But then we sit with the Knight of Cups, regroup, remember our capacity to feel deeply and wisely and then we step back out into the fray.

Coming from this grounded and sensitive place, we are much more likely to be able to receive and offer the blessings that surround our days.

As usual, I have chosen some Knight of Cups from my tarot collection to speak directly to you all:

The Knight of Chalices (Cups) from Prisma Visions Tarot by James R. Eads says,

"WooOooo and wow! Riding the emotions of all of humanity is a wild ride let me tell you! See how graceful I am though and how well I catch the water of life! You too can be like me if you get a little more existential and a lot less superficial. Find the balance though my friends, don't push yourselves too much and enjoy the ride."

The Knight of Cups ~ Barbara McClintock from Science Tarot says,

"Be patient with yourselves as you try to understand all that's happening around you. This doesn't have to be overwhelming. Remain curious and don't let others tell you how you're supposed to feel or behave. You are much closer to wisdom than anyone who tries to shut down your senses. Don't let the blockheads win."

The Knight of Cups from Aquarian Tarot by David Palladini says,

"Shhh."
What?
"Shhh. I am listening."
To what?
"To you, your heartbeat and your stillness. I am listening to everything you don't say or wish you could say. I hear all this, and respond without words.

I will bear witness and I will help you navigate through strangeness with the capacity to still feel joyful and loud (though you may need another archetype's help with that)."

'Til next month...

Cheerio & best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

This month I used the beautiful Minoan Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. Read on for words that calmed my mind as I wrote them. I hope they calm and encourage you too. :)

[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]
