Tarot tales from Newtown, Sydney, with a brief mention perhaps, of chai and other fascinating things.

This photo was taken of me last week at a party put on by Extreme Music at the Oxford Art Factory in Darlinghurst. I converted the cloak booth into a nice little tarot nook with my tablecloth, faux roses and sign. The end of year party season has well and truly begun!

A question I often get asked at events is how can I do readings when it's so noisy? And yes it's true that sometimes the music gets so loud that my voice has to move up the scale to a shout (!) but I am used to it now and have built up a stamina for this kind of work. As long as I drink plenty of water during, suck a lozenge afterwards followed by a nice cup of soothing herbal tea and a sleep, I am fine :-) Of course, nothing beats a leisurely-paced reading over a cuppa in my tranquil tarot room in Newtown, but these shorter readings at parties have a spark all of their own.

I've got a number of events to read at before 2014 draws to a close, from hens' parties to end-of-year work celebrations. And then from December 20 - 31 I will be in Blackheath at the Vipassana meditation centre for my annual 10-Day course . All that silence along with closed eyes for extended periods will no doubt rejuvenate my vocal chords and my spirit so that I can continue doing this work that I love.

I will send out another newsletter just before I go, but here is your heads up that if you want a reading before the end of the year, now is the time.

My last day at work for the year will be Thursday December 18 and my first day back at work will be Sunday January 4, 2015.

Oh, and chai, anyone? My Psychic Sarah's Queen of Cups Chai makes an excellent Xmas present! If you know anyone who loves spicy, invigorating, love-fuelled chai you can order online or buy in person at Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher or Petty Cash Cafe. :-)

Read on for the Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Chariot :-)
Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Chariot

For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I talk about the tarot card that appears the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

With The Chariot we get to pick up some speed. We align ourselves with our purpose and we take off in a direction that we strangely seem to know well, even if we haven't ventured this far before.

I like a good Chariot time. I consider it a time of balanced "Gung-ho!", where we can be clear in our intentions and carry on with them and not let anyone stop us in our path, or even slow us down.

With The Chariot we have the capacity to make decisions without sentimentality getting in the way. If certain people aren't meant to walk with us for this part of the path, then they just won't be around. Perhaps they will catch up with us later, perhaps not. But in the meantime we are able to carry on regardless and make best use of this thunderous time.

And now to the voices of the individual Chariot cards I have selected from my tarot collection:

The Chariot from Stella's Tarot (by Stella Kaoruko & painted by Takako Hoei) says, "May you be steadfast in your approach, with the knowingness that pink-maned horses and golden-moon-shoulder pads make you irresistible to quiet knowing and empowered success."

The Chariot from Tarot of the Cat People (by Karen Kuykendall) says, "As you move towards your goal,  trust in what you already have to support you along the way. You don't need to stop and pick up any new skills or fancy people - what you have now is enough and by golly you will look fabulous and fierce if you embrace this."

Chariot from Navigators Tarot of the Mystic Sea (by Julia Turk) says, "Don't stop! Try not to look back! You are heading somewhere important that will ultimately allow you to assist those you are now leaving behind. Gather the support that is already there and do the best you can to share your bounty as you grow in yourselves!"

And on that note, 'til next month,

Cheerio & best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month.

The deck for this month's reading is the Triple Goddess Tarot by Isha Lerner & illustrated by Mara Friedman. This is a very special deck and a favourite of mine thanks to the beautiful imagery and the positive reflections it inspires. Read on for inspiring goodness that only the goddesses can bring :-)

[I generally post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first week (or so) of every month.]

I make and sell my very own delicious blend of chai tea - Psychic Sarah's Queen of Cups Chai. I personally select, grind and blend the spices and package every single packet of chai.

1 packet of 220g chai costs AUD$20, and will make you at least 48 large cups of delicious authentic chai tea. (That's 16 litres of chai - have a party!) Read a review about it here.

You can drink a pot of my chai in-house and/or purchase a packet to take home with you at Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher, Newtown, and Petty Cash Cafe, Marrickville. Or you can order it online - I ship all over the world!
